caladancid
I will admit to being a little apprehensive about Forge World going to special editions. Usually I think of those as cash grabs with little value from GW. Really, what more could they possibly add? The books are already amazing (physically and content). Kol Saresk
Slipcase and posters. And not for that much of a price difference really. Usually a deal with Forgeworld. Slips
Yeah, its not nearly double like GW does. IIRC, IA:13, LatD was 50 pounds for the Special and the regular is 45 pound on the FW site. I mean, if you're willing to dish out cash for FW stuff, 5-10 pounds really isn't a lot to worry about :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298611-conquest/page/4/#findComment-3856674 Share on other sites
Marshal Loss
Forge World have been (thus far) far better with their special editions than GW. The Isstvan Collectors Edition was gorgeous and felt well worth the money (and comparatively not much money $ wise) and IA 13 Special Edition was also only a little bit more expensive. Doesn't feel like they needlessly add on to the prices like GW do So I rang up Forge World today to use my first free delivery voucher and order myself som Solar Auxiliary. The guy I spoke to was very helpful, and interested in what I was workng on (side note, one thing you can't fault gw on, the staff always do take an interest, even when you basically tell them that you cut up their models to make your own versions). He then said to me that Conquest was their best book yet, with around 100 more pages then Extermination, and there will be a special edition coming first. In fact he said I should get my SA late next week, with another voucher, just in time to ring up to order the Special Edition. Now, that doesn't mean it will be out next week, as he was hardly going to give me an exact date, especially as there is no way he would no when my order would get to me. but it's got to be soon.Exciting. Daemon2027
I'd imagine just after Thanksgiving but before Christmas. Give people time to recover from Black Friday and Cyber Monday. These are events that don't really happen in the UK, so may not enter into their thinking. Now Fireworks night is over we enter the long run up to Christmas. caladancid
I meant to comment on the 100 more pages thing. That is a huge amount of stuff in the book. Cannot wait! Marshal Rohr
What do you mean the UK doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving!?!? It's almost like it's a holiday for not dying due to starvation while trying to get away from Europe. Iron Hands Fanatic
Edit: nope Anyway - the anticipation for Conquest is palpable - it says a lot about FW's track history that a forum mainly dedicated to space marines is chomping at the bit for this book (which is mainly dedicated to the Solar Auxilia, Knights & Mechanicum) just as much as the previous three Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298611-conquest/page/4/#findComment-3857153 Share on other sites
Kol Saresk
My question would be why would the UK celebrate Thanksgiving. It'd be like expecting them to celebrate Fourth of July. Moving on. The latest Knight release mentioned having a place in a Knight's list. Any idea what that looks like? I assume it'd be a direct parallel to the Codex: Imperial Knights? Slips
Well, its a Questoris Knight Crusade Army List. Means we might also see a Craestus Knight Crusade Army list too and a potential of a mix of both. What really intrigues me is if they'll just be "here all the knights have the same rules! Just paint them how you want!" or will get go the Legion Route and give the prominent knight houses some special rules for knights of theirs. ...though that has the potential of becoming another Adamantine Lance formation type deal. Conn Eremon
Extra pages means extra lore means Cormac is extra happy. What do you mean the UK doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving!?!? It's almost like it's a holiday for not dying due to starvation while trying to get away from Europe. Ah c'mon, pointing fingers at Europe whilst forgetting about the near-genocide of your country's native population? Our ancestors all did horrible, horrible things to each other - lets leave it at that, and y'know, all hug or something - I dunno . . . Either I really misread M2C's post, or you really misread it. Daemon2027
Yeah the guy on the phone said its full of extra content in terms of background, campaigns, and lists. For me, my army will be a mix of Mechanicum and Imperila Army, with Raven Guard using them as a screen for their own mission so perfect. On a side note, growing up near an air base with an Americn presence, I used to watch fireworks on the 4th from an abandoned dry sky slope, cos, well fireworks are nice to look at. Why doesn't the Americans celebrate Evaction day? Not that we do, that would be silly, we don't even celebrate our saints day.
