Sohail187
What psychic powers did you pick for Tiggy and the Centurions? Well i did'nt really get to pick but i got kind of lucky in my 2nd and 3rd game. 1st game i got trash spells. however 2nd game i managed to get Shrouding / Perfect Timing / Prescience. So i landed my pod in the middle of the table nice piece of ruins Shrouding now gave me a 2++ cover and in range for everything. IF i was allowed to choose? I would always go Shrouding / Precognition / Perfect Timing. Then i would stick tigi at the front of the squad with a 2+ cover save with reroll 2+. ContemptuousAngel
Someone on this thread (and others) brought up using Sicaran Battle Tanks. Where do we find the rules for those? IA v2 or Horus Heresy Massacre? Do we know that it's 40k approved? Frater Cornelius
IA2 V2 and yes, 40k approved. It is a relic though, those have special requirements in 40k should you take them as allies or more than one in your primary. tjdudey
I think this thread is anecdotal proof that we are not competitive. Almost everyone mentions Allies and Knights, and while that may be true for most Imperial armies, its a testament to the weakness of the spacewolf book. Sure, they are solid, well rounded units, but that is not how you win at the top levels (IMO) Wolves are limited by their access to special weapons, and lack of rule bending buffs. They won't be high on any lists without significant portions going to allies, and even then it will be mostly novelty lists. I never play allies, and I haven't lost since February. Rough count in my head puts that at about a dozen matches. Opponents are usually Tyranid, Necron, Chaos or other SM Chapters. I personally think we don't need the allies, or the Kights, but they are excellent units to add to an army. ContemptuousAngel
What kind of list do you run? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298620-how-competitive-are-we/page/4/#findComment-3860478 Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
It all comes down to opponents. Pure SW are enough against decent players and more than enough for your store. But then there's people like me, who play 'nazi-lists' and don't stop at nothing to win in certain scenarios. Those are tough to beat with pure SW. tjdudey
What kind of list do you run? a mixture, although my favourite units to take are 10 Skyclaws with a meltagun, with a JumpPack Wolf Priest. I deep strike these behid my enemies most valuable asset to melta it. then charge the next turn. I find that at least 2/3 normally survive the shooting before they charge. I run wolf lord on TWM with black death relic, armour of russ, helm of durfast. Expensive but has always wreaked havoc on my enemies. When outnumbered, (which is most of the time) he gets 9 attacks on the charge. Soaks up wounds with 3++ storm shield and then unleashes all those attacks at s7 AP2, rerolling the failed to hits. Terminators with mixed weapons are useful. couple of storm shields, to soak up ap2 attacks, some wolf claws to hit at initiative, plus power and chain fists to layon serious damage to enemies. And I love my stormwolf with 15 bloodclaws inside. So many people say its a lot of points off the board at the beginning, but I use Wolves Unleashed so I guarantee its on in turn 2. Storm Wolf is well armed so it does plenty of damage, (I use the SKyhammer Missiles), before the Bloodlcaws charge next turn.
