Brom MKIV
So a few months into this codex what have you settled on for your combat characters? Do you prefer halberd or falchions on those initiative 5 models or just take another hammer? Anyone rolling with the soul glaive? Also do you allow multiple relics in your area like mine does? May as well expand this to include favorite ranged weapon (if any) and preferred discipline. Any unusual builds out there lets hear it. Rurik the blessed
Nice topic... Personally, i love Captains and Grand masters. for a relic, i always equip the Soul Glaive to my Grand Master or Captain, it is very useful. Cuirass of sacrifice is a good relic too, but i am not good with dices... haha. for the ranged weapon, i was testing the Psilencer as you can see in other post. Adeptus
I use the Soul Glaive. I haven't yet run into a situation where I felt I needed another hammer. I already run three in each of my squads, so anything that NEEDS that S10, Ap2 to take it out, I've usually got enough available in the squad. Besides, targets like that (walkers, monstrous creatures, terminators) I usually prioritise for my Dreadknights. I don't see much value in the Cuirass of Sacrifice, either. To get the most out of the Cuirass, you need to put your Grandmaster at the front of the unit, so that he can tank all the incoming shots and make the most out of his FnP and It Will Not Die! But a single bad dice roll on a S8 shot, or a handful of bad dice on your FnP shots, and you've just lost your Grandmaster. I'd rather sacrifice my Terminators to keep my GM alive. And the Domina Liber Daemonica is more useful on a Librarian, I feel, and the rest of our relics are poo, so... yeah. Everon
I always use a soul glaive with pyscannon on my gm. Those rerolls have been phenomenal. Rerolling when fight ig mech list its been nuts. Tge look on people's faces and how fast they get their tanks running away from their border so they can try to get those templates on the gm. It ruins their day big time Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298667-grand-master-bc-weapons-whats-your-preference/#findComment-3848920 Share on other sites
raverrn
My favorite weapon is Mastery Level 3. It's a steal at 25 points! Reclusiarch Darius
Grandmasters can make great use of either the Soul Glaive or Cuirass of Sacrifice. There is nothing wrong with hammer+psycannon though. Librarians you have either Mastery 3 and/or a hammer. The Liber is an option but I think more Sanctic powers generally aren't needed. SonofTitan117
I agree with raverrn that our ML 3 Librarian is a steal and a very worthwhile points investment for any army list. Reclusiarch Darius
That said, there is nothing wrong with running basic Libby's. Mastery 2 in TDA with all the other GK rules is amazing value in its own right. Reclusiarch Darius
I've tried fishing for 'Invis' before. If that's what you want, sure the Mastery 3 is worth it. But I'm finding more and more that Divination does the job better, and any one of its powers is excellent for Knights. Telepathy meanwhile has a lot of mediocre powers and two standouts (Shrouding and Invis). It's depressing to roll the Leadership-based powers against Fearless, Ld10 or Stubborn units. I dunno, I guess I'm jaded by my local Tau players markerlight my Invis unit and then boosting to hit against it anyway. Divination gets me a 4+ invul instead, which helps against AP2.
