mcpolle
I have just purchased a knight, because I think they look great, and can bring aomething we need, my question to you brothers is, which one to model it as?? The Errant or Paladin?? Do I go for large blast str 9 AP1, or two str 8AP 3 shots?? SFCMac
Going to run the Errant myself (mine is currently being built/painted.) 18" 2d6 melta range on a large blast is appealing to me. Also the 18" range is conducive to getting your knight into melee range, as opposed to sitting back and cranking with the rapid fire battle cannon. Haven't had a chance to play it in an actual game yet. Vash113
Go with Gerantius! Better Ion Shield, it will not die, and a bunch of other bonuses, if your taking just one knight, go with the Forgotten Knight! Jochteas
I prefer the Dark Knight, with enough planning it can beat anything. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298754-which-knight-as-ally/#findComment-3850698 Share on other sites

Kilofix
Paladin. Errant is good against Terminators, but for everything else (including vehicles), I've had a better kill rate with the Paladin. But better yet - magnetize the weapon - its very easy. Frater Cornelius
Why would a Paladin be better. Battle Cannon can not explode vehicles anymore. A few glances will not make a difference. Lord Blackwood
I run one of each I think the Errant is stronger though against armor and vehicles which can be a big deal. I do feel the paladin is better against horde armies. mcpolle
Gerantius and the Black knight, are they Forge world?? Have not seen them. Think also the Errant seems to be the way to go, but will look into magnatising that weapon. Spacefrisian
Go with magnets and have both options available. Saves alot of trouble. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298754-which-knight-as-ally/#findComment-3850925 Share on other sites
Kilofix
Why would a Paladin be better. Battle Cannon can not explode vehicles anymore. A few glances will not make a difference. Cause even with LB, I tend to miss with the Errant. At least the Paladin gets a second shot - even if it is a Glance. But - it may just be my luck. Back to OT - I'll take some photos shortly on how I magnetized my Knight. Polle I've never heard of a "Black Knight" but Gerantius is a dataslate released in White Dwarf Weekly Issue 24. He's about 130 points more than a Knight Errant or Paladin and is armed with the Thermal Cannon. But he has an additional WS and BS point, It Will Not Die, a 3+ Ion Shield Invulnerable Save and the special rule "Striker" which lets him shoot in the same turn that he runs. He also re-rolls results of 1 on the stomp table. Honestly, as I said, if you are going to be taking a single Imperial Knight, go all out and take Gerantius. He's a beast. As for getting his rules, you can generally order the back issue from GW's website. ContemptuousAngel
I hate that you kind of HAVE to buy these. That's the way this game is going, unfortunately. I'll be getting one eventually, so that I have one when I know my opponent will have one. I hate that kind of situation. At least it means you don't HAVE to buy flying units anymore. But yeah, magnetize the weapons if you can. I'd recommend that with all the larger models. mcpolle
I have played against a knight at our last local tourney, and took it down with 2 drop pods, filled with GH, with 2 melta and combi melta, and the other with Ulrick, Arjack and 5 WG with combi plasma, so they are kill-able. I just want one, cos I think they bring something extra to the army, and they look so cool. Have no idea how I can take on an Adamantine lance tho, and I know they are out there, maybe we should start a thread on how to counter these new threats. Frater Cornelius
Can you be a bit more specific as to why they bother you? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298754-which-knight-as-ally/#findComment-3851417 Share on other sites
mcpolle
Well because they have a re-roll on their save, if they are close together, plus, I can probably handle one of them, but taking on three of them, would take a quite specific build, with lots of anti arm, and then you have a problem if you meet armies with lots of troops, Maybe this is where our flyers might be a good choice, but generally , they move fast, shoot well and have a good cc presence, so they are generally quite good, So how to build a list that can take them on, and still be competitive at tournies?? Frater Cornelius
Basically, it takes a ranged army to do that. Most of the melee that could deal with a Knight is I1. The Knight will eat you alive with I4 and stomp at I1. Melta spam from multiple directions is the trick here. But yeah, hard to do it without getting too specific. mcpolle
One big question. How do you add a single knight. Is it classed as an ally? Or how do we go about that?
