Bit Box Custom Volkite Charger Tutorial

Hey all,

 

I have some terror squads in need of Volkite Chargers and at 10 for £11.50 I thought having the need for 20 id kit bash some.

 

Parts used:

Bolter

Plasma Gun

Pulse Rifle (or any scope)

Wire

Green Stuff

Cut off the barrel and cut so parts interlock as so:

Use a Scope or cut off a scope from something like a pulse rifle.

Stick on the scope.

Now this step will vary as for my legion im using light plating (to protect our sensitive Night Lord eyes). But use this stage to green stuff plasma venting.

I used plasticard glued in one side and then folded over the plasma venting creating my light plating (ill paint light escaping its edges ;) )

Then use wire to create you guessed it wires!

And the Final step is to greenstuff boxes to tidy up the wires.

And then your left with a gun that looks like a Volkite Charger. After doing this I would suggest Khorne Berzerker Plasma Pistols as the end looks more like a  Volkite weapon and it comes with wires already.

Nice conversion!

 

To me it still looks like a plasma gun though. In fact your step one is how I made my plasma guns as I had lots of bolters and plasma pistols lying around.

 

My suggestion would be if you could cut off the two end noses, then hollow out the end a little, it'd look more like a volkite

The end has been bothering me too, I'm going to rework that bit. As you said it looks very plasma.

I have scored in a grove that splits the nose to look like two parts. I'm going to paint it up and see how it looks before reworking it. I'm also going to create a bigger barrel/nozzle hole as I didn't look that in-depth at the end.

Okay ive added some paint to the gun and it looks great. First here is an official painted version of a Volkite weapon not the Charger that mine is. (remember mine has shielding on it)

As mentioned to me the barrel didn't look quite right so here is the other modification, widened to match the Volkite Nose ends.

I am now 100% happy with it for the time it takes and the bits ill have extra anyway. So now I just need to make 13 more...

Let me know if you can get your GS casts to work. I wasn't able to before. They never really looked right no matter what I did. I think it would work better with something softer than GS, personally.

No problem. I'm nothing if not patient when it comes to hobby stuff and I still have those molds. :D
