Brother Crazywolf
Maybe make your own shale out of model clay or milliput. I think I saw a tutorial somewhere. Didn't look too hard to do and was completely customizable for your needs. Let me see if I can find the tutorial. Edit: Found a couple different ones. Pine bark from Spikey Bits http://spikeybitsblog.com/2013/05/pine-bark-to-shale-basing-tutorial.html CMON using milliput http://www.coolminiornot.com/articles/1367 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298758-bases-worthy-of-the-fang/#findComment-3850730 Share on other sites
Ironwulf
MicroArts Studios do some really nice bases (and other products, too). From what I've seen, they are usually reasonably priced in comparison to other resin bases, and decent quality too.The bases you have selected though-- They aren't my personal favorites for the shale/snow effect. In MY opinion, I'd rather have bases with ONLY the shale, where I add my own snow, making each base unique. When the snow is already there, sculpted into the resin, you are limited to a certain number of configurations before the "randomness" of the snow pattern might be seen. Some of my favorites are from Dragon Forge Design (http://www.dragonforge.com), particularly the "Slate Wasteland" series. Of course, for you Donkalleone, it may be cheaper to get items from Poland to Germany (as indicated in your profile), rather than from USA. Just my 2 creds. Z00Z
Honestly, make your own. Shale is the easiest thing to mimic using dried tree bark. Just remember to always seal it with a watered down wood glue prior to priming as tree bark is still pourus. I have some examples in my wip thread if you want to have a look Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298758-bases-worthy-of-the-fang/#findComment-3850830 Share on other sites
