b1soul
sticking all the "tank" Primarchs on one team though is just a recipe for disaster for everyone else because you do you expect anyone short of the Big E Himself to beat the Four Absolute Toughest Dudes Ever? Well...any other team has the ability to beat them I think. Well...any other team has the ability to beat them I think. I don't agree, and it's not just Ferrus Manus Fanboy talk, either. The four absolute physically toughest Primarchs were all lumped onto one team together, including a Perpetual. Rules wise, I'd take that team against any mortal opponents in the universe and expect at least two or three to come out alive and well. Fulgrim's there, so there's an obvious precedence, the Khan's beaten Mortarion before, barely give a damn about Corax so I don't know about him but Sanguinius is goddamn Sanguinius. Fulgrim wrecked Ferrus twice I wouldn't say the Khan beat Mortarion. The Khan showed speed is capable of countering resilience. It was a tough fight and I believe the Khan probably would've won if the final exchange had been allowed to play out Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298846-primarchs-in-the-colosseum/page/2/#findComment-3858118 Share on other sites
Iron Father Ferrum
Fulgrim beat Ferrus once -- the first time was an ambush, and an argument can be made that Fulgrim didn't do it the first time either since he didn't land the blow, the Slaaneshi daemon in the Laer Blade took over and landed it. Wade Garrett
In regards to the Khan and Mortarion, people who feel that they are winning tend to not to throw everything they have into an all or nothing Hail Mary play like the final strike he was winding up for is described as. Hail Mary implies a very low chance of success. I don't think that's accurate of the Khan's "play" He knows Mortarion has superior endurance but he has far superior speed. To the Khan, his one-strike play is his best chance of winning. I admit I don't know the percentage of that chance but to me, it reads like it's close to 50/50, maybe slightly in favour of the Khan but who knows, deliberate ambiguity by Wraight Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298846-primarchs-in-the-colosseum/page/2/#findComment-3860134 Share on other sites

Gree
Didn't Guilliman get almost killed by Kor Phaeron and later on by a single squad of Alpha Legionaries (admittedly in a surprise attack)? There's been talk of Macragge having a martial culture and whatnot, but to me it doesn't seem like Guilliman has a particularly good track record in that regard. Memento Of Prospero
Considering Kor Phaeron was blasting him with dark sorcery which he has no protection against, I don't see anyone else but magnus fairing any better. He held off Angron and Lorgar I recon, that has to count for something ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298846-primarchs-in-the-colosseum/page/2/#findComment-3861708 Share on other sites
b1soul
The ten Alpha Legionnaires though...I mean, yeah you could say he's wearing ceremonial armour and he's unarmed...but would 10 Guardsmen with lasguns hospitalise a space marine wearing ceremonial armour? Castiel
The ten Alpha Legionnaires though...I mean, yeah you could say he's wearing ceremonial armour and he's unarmed...but would 10 Guardsmen with lasguns hospitalise a space marine wearing ceremonial armour? His version of artificer armour isn't necessarily any better than that of a normal marine though, whereas bolters are a lot more effective weapons. I don't think you can really take that as a direct comparison. Hyaenidae
Something else to keep in mind with that AL vs Guilliman scenario is that the Alpha Legion and the Sons of Horus are the only two Legions who can carry the specialized warplate-shredding "Banestrike" rounds. If I was in that AL cell leader's position, I'd carry nothing but those rounds on such a mission.
