Space Marine Spec Ops WIP

Ahoy-hoy,

One of the things I've been working on lately is a 'spec ops' squad. Not Deathwatch, as these are all from the same chapter, but more a 'behind enemy lines/sneaky bastard' squad. Here's a couple of pictures of the models I've done so far...

I'm intending to give them all camo cloaks using this method, although I'm open to suggestions.

Here's the thing, though. I'm trying to throw some female space marines in there because I am an inspiring renegade who cannot be controlled. I've remodelled a torso to look feminine, but I'm having a little trouble with the heads. I ordered a clutch of female heads off Statuesque Miniatures, but when they arrived they were several shades smaller than what I was hoping for...

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find more proportionate heads, or tips on modelling my own?

I wanted to add a squad support weapon, but going with the light infantry/spec ops I felt a heavy bolter was a bit too chunky. On the other hand, a storm bolter always looks a little pathetically stubby, so I made my own.

I got a Terminator storm bolter, cut the barrels off and replaced them with a couple of bolters. Hopefully it'll look good once painted.

And then I went and put tits on Space Marines.

I went with the female heroic scale heads from Statuesque Miniatures in the end. I think they look a little on the small side, but they do the job. And I didn't want people to ask why that space marine looked a little girly, so I tried to sculpt some chests that unmistakably marked them out as female space marines.

Melty-shooty.

Would love to hear some feedback.

If you have any questions about that tissue technique, you can ask in that thread or PM me. If you do go for it and like the results, please put up a picture of your results in that thread. :)

Now, if you're comfortable at all with green stuff, you might try something like this: http://corbaniaprime.blogspot.com/2010/11/tutorial-how-to-sculpt-green-stuff.html

Hi chaps, thanks for the comments.

Those remind me of this force I remember seeing a few years back called black widows http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/139331-the-black-widows-female-space-marines/

Those lasses cropped up a few times in my searches for inspiration. I'm going for more of a mixed-gender thing, like the Spartan teams from Halo.

Hallo Kage smile.png Hopefully the cloaking will go alright. Unfortunately modelling asymmetric boobs on marines is the extent of my skill with green stuff (my parents are so proud), so I'll try the paper towel/PVA method first.
