Razorbacks as Taurox

I admit, even with the wheel kit I still am just not a fan of the Taurox kit. It just seems silly and vaguely non-military for an IG/MT vehicle. I do, however, own four razorbacks that I'm not doing anything with at the moment and I'm considering modifying their turret and running them as Taurox, giving me a full ten infantry transports if I wanted to do some crazy mech spam list (and don't think I don't want to.)

My question is, what modifications would be required for such a move to be kosher? Clearly I'd modify the turret into twin autocannons but would you guys like other things to represent other things like the reduced side armor and the all terrain features? Would the slight size differences be an issue?

Finally, should I go full crazy and invest, eventually, into some Scions for the Ground Assault Formation and, if so, how should I setup the Razorbacks to also be Taurox Primes?

I think it's all down to the weapon mounts. Rhino armour is barely less paper than the Taurox so it'd be a silly quibble to bring that up. The all terrain features of the Taurox model are debatable so I wouldn't get caught up in that either. I'd add some stuff to the outside to make it look like it is well equipped with stuff for long deployments behind enemy lines but that's cool to do anyway.

Having them run as both Taurox and Primes would require quite a bit more work but again it depends on how you do the weapon mounts as to how difficult this is. Have the turret weapon magnetised and that would go a long way, but I'm not sure about the secondary weapon mounts. However this is achieved you're probably looking at a lot of work to have both unless someone has some good ideas?

i'm not terribly sure what you mean by it looks non-military, since modern militaries have been using very similar vehicles in iraq and afgahnistan for the last decade or so, but that might be the real problem...it's my problem with it at least, it just doesn't look 40k enough for my tastes.

Is there much of a height/width/depth difference between a Razorback and a Taurox?

The Rhino hull is slightly longer and wider, but much shorter. With the standard plastic turret it's almost exactly the same overall height as a Taurox Prime with missile launcher, but the low profile occasionally makes it easier to hide than a Taurox.

For me, the biggest issue would be that the Rhino is pretty much the iconic vehicle of the entire franchise. Everyone knows exactly what it is and what it does. It's not a huge deal, but remembering in the heat of the game that those Rhinos aren't Rhinos is something I'd prefer my opponent wasn't asking me to do.

That is closer to what I mean, not 40k military enough. Needs more box.
