Baulder
aye, the wolves strengths lie elsewhere. Tbh my first response to AA in low points games is ignore it. Donkalleone
Yep. For some reason, our chapter, which it is said is the master of the orbital drop pod assault, doesn't really know how to look up and shoot at things flying above us well. Stupid GW... You make it sound like we are Pigs..... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298931-aa-at-low-points/page/3/#findComment-3855978 Share on other sites

You make it sound like we are Pigs..... No, I'm complaining that GamesWorkshop in their backstories and fluff have said that Space Wolves are some of the finest warriors in all the Imperium and even outstanding amongst the other Astartes. Yet, the most simple and basic tenet and lessons of warfare, that air support units are important to combat, is ignored by these gifted warriors. All modern warfare dictates controlling the skies by air superiority. All the other Astartes chapters have considerably more aerial presence. It is illogical. Now, I know it's dystopian scifi and such. But my willing suspension of disbelief only goes so far... Quixus
You can try to hit them with pods on the way downUnfortunately that has not been possible for many editions. I don't know if it was ever possible. Squishing infantry or maybe even vehicles with drop pods would be awesome though. Vampyrer0me0
Right now for cheap anti air in all my lists that are less than 2k I am running tarrauntulas with Hyperios and camo netting. I know they are forge world, but they are pretty easy to convert if you dont want to buy from england. They are also the type of support thing the wolves would have, so it fits the fluff. They are very very cheap, and at t6 3w and a 3+ sv they are decently good at surviving what comes at them. The camo netting does really well at helping them survive any retaliatory shooting. Lucien Eilam
All the other Astartes chapters have considerably more aerial presence. Nonsense. Space Wolves are the only Chapter with the option to take a flyer with every slot on the chart except HQ. Compare that to Blood Angels or Grey Knights in particular, with their one flyer unit, in Heavy Support, and more limited access to Forge World flyers into the bargain. FenrisWolf
Lucien, you are correct in that regard. I should have more properly said ground based anti-flier weaponry. Frater Cornelius
Diversity does not means efficiency and if I had the choice I would go for the latter. SW might have loads of AA options, but most of them are not worth the price of admission. Compare it to, say, a Skyray. One single model in a single slot and you have one of the most efficient AA options in the freaking game. thebymster
I have rows of Raz-Backs with TLAC, because in the good old days my army was built on spamming long fangs, rune priests and Ass-Backs (excuse the abbreviation.) Aaffordable with a dozer blade, One Ass-Back is not enough. 2 or 3 give mobility, are scoring and will chip those hull points (or terminators) away! They are also excellent at giving away first blood! Re previous tott up of points: if you're gonna take LF anyway is it not cheaper to add couple or three flac missiles rather than aegis? So many "ignores cover" weapons now anyway... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298931-aa-at-low-points/page/3/#findComment-3864371 Share on other sites
