Kossaka
Just picked up my copy of the Crusade and Campaign books for Horus Heresy and working on a Iron Warriors List. Looking for a fun list where I can bring some of the things that make Iron Warriors cool to a tabletop without getting my teeth kicked in. Rite Of War: The Hammer of Olympia HQ: Kyr Vhalen Legion Consul - Master of Signal Elites: Rapier Weapons Battery - 3 Rapiers, All with Quad Mortars Tyrant Siege Terminator Squad - 4 Tyrant Terminators, Tyrant Siege Master Troops: Legion Tactical Squad - 9 Marines, Sergeant, Nuncio-Vox, Additional Combat Blades, Rhino, Heavy Bolter, Shrapnel Bolts Legion Tactical Squad - 9 Marines, Sergeant, Nuncio-Vox, Additional Combat Blades, Rhino, Heavy Bolter, Shrapnel Bolts Legion Tactical Squad - 9 Marines, Sergeant, Nuncio-Vox, Additional Combat Blades, Rhino Heavy Support: Achilles-Alpha Land Raider Iron Havoc Support Squad - 4 Iron Havocs, 1 Sergeant, 5 Lascannons Tactics - The Rhinos move forward take/contest Objectives. Marines get out of the rhinos and camp objectives, if the Marines look like they are going to be charged, Rapid fire weapons and charge in themselves to take away the charge bonuses from the enemy unit. Tyrant Terminators play back to defend while taking potshots at heavier units. Iron Havocs get Kyr's Warlord trait of re-rolling 1's while in my deployment zone, and the MoS joins them to boost the Havocs BS to 5. Achilles moves forward to support the tactical marines, and the Rapiers support the tactical marines as well. Curios about the rules about the Quad Mortars, do they have access to the shatter shells just like the Achilles does? or is this just a typo/ copy paste error. And since the Havocs Hit on a 2+ cause of BS5, and Vhalen allows them to reroll 1's. Does this mean that the Havocs have twin-linked weapons? Any Ideas on what to do with Vhalen, Im thinking I'll just throw him in with the terminators, but I feel like he just sits there. would like to include him for fluff reasons but not dead-set on keeping him. 1ncarnadine
As it stands I think the regular Quad Mortars do have access to the Shatter Shells. And the Havocs don't have twin-linked weapons, it'll just feel like it :) You can throw Vhalen in a rhino tac squad to help him contest, he has a relic blade and is relatively beast in close combat in case they charge/get charged. Interestingly he also has a cortex controller so if you ever wanted to expand your army you could include some Castellax for monstrous creature pain. You might have issues with any fliers, there isn't much for anti-air. I'm not sure what I'd remove to add some except maybe replacing the Achilles-Alpha with a Sicaran or Contemptor-Mortis. You already have the mortar battery with the rapiers, so the Achilles might just end up being a very expensive and much harder to kill extra quad mortar. Extra points remaining if you lost that could bulk out the Tyrants and/or Havocs, maybe? Nehekhare
Didn't you forget something? Kyr Vhalen, Master of Fortifications? like...a bastion perhaps, with a nice view of the battlefield, a void shield and an ammo dump (that lets you reroll 1s even without vhalen)? Why the Achilles? you don't transport anything and there's much cheaper ways to get 4 S8 shots (like 2 more tyrant terminators/4 havocs). think about what a whirlwind scorpius might do to your enemy instead, or a medusa, or a fortification - or all of those for the same points! For anti-air, change the havocs lascannons into missle launchers, they are cheaper and get flak for free (and -1S isn't that great a loss). get more of them for the points saved. if you can spare the points, get castellax. 3 automata, 2x flamers, nothing else, no questions asked. Brofist
I’m with Nehekhare. I don’t know what your Achilles is doing. A Spartan, drop pod, or other mobility would do you a lot of good here. If you are taking Kyr, consider a fortification. Grab yourself a bastion, park those iron havocs ontop of it, and then enjoy a 3++ and BS5. You should consider drop the lascannons in exchange for missiles launchers and an augary scanner. This gives you a really flexible and hardy backfield unit. Perfect to protect your… …quad mortars. They are the cats miau right now. Find some spare points and get yourself 2 squads of 2 mortars, which will let you fire at different targets. They are better at tank hunting than a laser destroyer, so they’ll focous on your enemy armor or shell troops hiding behind cover. I know folks like the master of signal, but I’d probably drop him since your havocs are going to do just fine without him. Consider dropping one of the tactical squads in favor of allying in an admech HQ and some cheap as chips troops (it will cost less). Use the points saved to take up Nehekhare’s suggestion and add a squad of scoring + objective secured castellax. Nehekhare
thx bulba. Admech BB allies are great advice. about the MoS, though: 2+ (rerollable) to hit with havocs is no joke. In addition you get d3 battlecannon shots and a free augury scanner. Best HQ choice there is. take 3 with 3 havoc squads on 3 bastions, 3 rapiers inside each lol. Reyner
Would Admech Troops count towards the 3 minimum you need for Hammer of Olympia? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298945-iron-warriors-2000-points/#findComment-3855929 Share on other sites

Brofist
Would Admech Troops count towards the 3 minimum you need for Hammer of Olympia? Sadly, no, but you do unlock an additional Admech heavy support option Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298945-iron-warriors-2000-points/#findComment-3856189 Share on other sites
Nehekhare
Hammer of Olympia don't ever do this. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298945-iron-warriors-2000-points/#findComment-3856405 Share on other sites
Brofist
It’s not the best ROW and the benefits are marginal, but if you’re taking 3 troops choices and a warsmith anyway, no harm in free perks (unless you want to ally in somebody besides admech that is) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298945-iron-warriors-2000-points/#findComment-3856480 Share on other sites
Nehekhare
a warsmith and 3 compulsory troops is more than enough harm already :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298945-iron-warriors-2000-points/#findComment-3856485 Share on other sites
