Custom Chapter - need modeling ideas

Yeah, i dont know if the "wolfie" fluff would fit well, Im probably leaning closer to the black templar look more than space wolf. The idea of more generic, black armor, etched in burning runes, with tabards seems to appeal to me more than the wolf look. Though i guess that would cause fluff-rage as well. lol

A bunch of psykers wearing BT stuff.. yeah.. Hmm.

People have been doing the whole dark angels robed bodies with grey knights appendages/toys for a while. Solid look nothing wrong with it.

But the Wolf knights would look far more original. Absolutely no idea how you'd pull it off though. Would just be grey knights with spikey ginger hair and a few talismans and pelts.

Would probably end up looking like space wolves 13th company had a fight with some knights, and the wolves that survived repaired their armour with knight armour haha.

You could focus more on the norse/viking theme of SW. Get some like chainmail bits and use them for loincloths and on shoulderpads. Use axes and maces with shields or big 2h and hammers. I suppose you could use swords aswell, vikings did use swords, but axes and warhammers (bud dum tiss) were much more iconic. I'm sure you could find viking style helmets, the round topped ones with chainmail covering the face would probably look best (assuming you can find them). Maybe even certain chaos helms with the choas bits removed could work, stereotypical viking helmets have horns. Round shields instead of the other shapes would help you sell the image as well too.

Hope I was somewhat helpful! :)

Make them a traitor Thousand Sons warband. They specialise in capturing Rune Priests and latent psyker Space Wolves, then turning them spiky and evil. That way everyone can be a psyker, and you can have Wolfy bits mixed in with Imperial power armour/Terminator armour.

If you go Viking style then animal skins and a few bare berserkers are needed, DO NOT put horns on helmets the Vikings NEVER did that.

I guess it boils down to wanting to depict historical or fantasy-style vikings. Real vikings indeed did not use horns, atleast to my knowledge. They also bore much chainmail and fur armour, topped off with steel helms and leather arm wraps. Fantasy-style (Skyrim for example) emphasises horns and big two-handed weaponry. Knot work and norse runes could be a nice element.

This'd be badass, actually. You could have plague zombie and spawn 'experiments' - deformed creatures held together only by their power armor, marines fused to or growing out of thunderwolves, all kinds of mad sciencey things.

For even more fun, you could make it a Fabulous Bill warband. He's already a renowned geno-scientist and madman, and his 'New Men' are an established part of the lore. Maybe he's turned his attentions to Space Wolves and their curse? Bonus points if you have Wulfen modelled in the army.
