IP on iron wolf

Hi brothers,

I've been thinking of a conversion opportunity for IP on TWC. Before I embark on this insanity, I'd like some of your thoughts and comments. I have a spare wolf head from the TWC box plus a few legs, so I was thinking of trying to make something like this to make the wolf he is riding. After all, IP's are the masters of mechanical repair and inventions.

Looks too steampunk for SM and SW in particular.

I disagree, this is in fact far closer to the SW fluff than norse viking mail ridden cavalry....

IP - "Only once he has fully embraced the mysteries of the Omnissiah will he be allowed to return to Fenris and take his rightful place amongst the Iron Priests, bringing growling engines of war to life in the service of his Chapter."

Dreadnought - "Amongst their battle lines loom the towering constructs of man and machine known as Dreadnoughts, Within each Dreadnought’s adamantium shell lie the remains of an honoured hero of the Chapter, broken in body but not in mind"

It is perfectly conceivable that a mounted IP has on several occasions saved his companion in the field from numerous injuries to the point where almost all that remains is his mind. Unless of course you assuming cyberwolves are limited to a leg....a eye....and a metal body plate implant.

;)

^that. It can be full iron. Mine are. But the design is has too many steam-punk elements. It may fit with an inquisitor but will never go with viking thematic, no matter how far fetched.

You letting the first picture cloud the concept.  I said I was thinking of something "like" this, not "replicate this"

Let me simplify it for you.

The SW backstory may infer norse mythology but that does not mean SW are viking. Trust me when I tell you that there are MANY more tribes outside celtic, germanic, norse european tribes. That is player opinion forged and not in the fluff. I still maintain that in a scifi fantasy setting, dark grim, this is a much smaller departure point than WHFB characters running around in battons and chainmail for SW. That is forcing the "SW are norse and thus must look like norse" theme too much. Unless of course you going to argue that servitors, within our codex, are not steampunk...

;)

Go for it. I'm with you on the whole saved/ modify his TW idea to be quite honest, our IP probably are one of the best candidates for a special character with his own supped up TW. The concept art is pretty good in IMO. It gives you a goal to aim for instead of just winging it & seeing what you end up with. I prefer the second one but that's just me. Maybe model him so his legs are enclosed in the body of the TW but you can still see the plates? The potential for this type of conversion is huge. Perhaps just have small patchs of fur to show the TW is way more machine then animal. My only other suggestion is make it slightly bigger then a normal TW. I find the GW ones a tad on the small side for looks but heh. Hope you go through with this as I want to convert 3 for my army I won't mind shamelessly stealing some one elses idea. Just saying. Sadly, mine will have to wait till after XMAS. Budgets! God! Talk about love hate relationship! LOL!!!!!

Lol! Im with you on the budget issue haha. Thats exactly my plan to be honest. Im planning on purchasing a single cyber then modding it with green stuff. I dont have a cyber at the moment so im hoping size wise its the same if not, ill have to wait until Jan for my 2nd twc unit and sacrifice one of them for the mods. The other option is to use casting putty and scratch building so you get a different stance. Then resin casting the complete item. It will take some time, but the rewards always outway the effort imo.

I think this is a great idea, ZOOZ. And the inspirational image is just that. But as FenrisWolf mentioned maybe we'll get a new model in a second wave. The Tyranids getting a neato second wave, we can only hope GW shows us some love as well. Not holding my breath however...

I hope you post your continued progress on this idea. I for one will be watching for it!!

Yup yup, lots of love for the nids for sure. I think DE Vect and a few other IC's from IG which were previously omitted will arrive in time. SW however, not too sure i fIP or cyberwolf will get any love or re-sculpts. I think Ulrik and Ragnar will be done 1st with possibly inclusion of Bran and a 13th co box set. But even that is a longshot. Njal the sculpt is still finecast but doesnt suffer from the size issue that ragnar and ulrik do.

Here's hoping anyway!

Focusing on my solstice advance for now, but IP on metal wolf is definitely on the cards as a project thereafter....as is a stormwolf and 3x dreads lol

so much to do... ;)

OK. Seeing as I said I would steal your idea if I liked it, I'll throw mine out there for you & maybe it'll spark something for you if you don't outright take it. Planning on ordering from a bits shop in the new year a set of the Fanatasy Khorne juggernaut bodies( one site sells three  per order-the Fantasy ones come with a saddle & hopefully are a little bigger then TW's) & a couple sets of the Bionic TW bits. Use greenstuff to model some bits of fur, add a rider with custom built servo arm/harness some wolf bling & there you go. Like I said, hope it at least sparks some ideas for you. Now. COOOME OOOON XMAS.
