disease
Hi Gang, Every year at Halloween, my local club (Darksphere, London) holds a very non-serious RPG-esque survival type event for the 40k crowd. This year we were told to bring a model up to 40pts and see what happens. Many models were considered, initially i thought of making a Sanguinary guard - that amount of mobilty, power weapon and artificer Armour would surely see me survive right to the end. But then I remembered this is a non serious event and there is no winner - I don't want to be 'that guy' and I want to save the sanguinary bits for something else I have planned. I then considered a ratling for the lolz, but then thought that would be wasting my 40pt allowance. I didn't have anything suitable to create an Ogryn that could 'krump either. Then it hit me! What would be extremely fluffy in this context, hardly used in regular games, reasonably survivable, plenty of Dakka and Choppa and would be awesome to build and convert? THOUSAND SON / TZEENCH MARINE! But then real life got in the way and before I knew it I only had two evenings before the big event! So very hastily i had to knock something up.... However, as seems to happen every time i build a model, a sacrifice had to be made to the dark gods first http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/Madoktopus/W40k/imagejpg1_zps320c3b73.jpg So after a quick build and some frantic base coating, I created this guy: 'Khalor' http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/Madoktopus/W40k/imagejpg1_zpsa091e799.jpg :D Bit of a change of plan on the big day. Turns out a lot of people had to drop out, and also turns out I was the only person who hadn't brought a corpse worshiping loyalist Astartes! So, the Game Master changed the scenario from tyranid attack, to a game of 'hunt the heretic' where I would be persued by the following Killteam: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/Madoktopus/W40k/imagejpg1_zps2aa486d9.jpg My hunters from left to right: Salamander heavy flamer, Grey Knight with Incinerator (?), Damned Legionnaire with heavy flamer, Grey Knight Interceptor with power sword(s), Golden Skulls assault marine with master crafted plasma pistol, and a member of the death company. Easy right? They all are kitted out for bug hunting and I just rolled for Doombolt... Also, to make things a little fairer, I also had the ability to summon NPC units that would attack anything in line of sight at various points in the game: D6 Genestealers or a single Venomthrope , and a single use Trygon. EDIT: What I meant to say was VARIOUS WARP BEASTS OF VARIOUS POWER THAT ARE DEFINETLY NOT TYRANIDS This is where I would be hunted: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/Madoktopus/W40k/imagejpg2_zps081d194e.jpg Hard to see, but that's every tile from four space hulk sets! I was also told to give the Hunters some information that might help them find me aboard my massive starship. So Intelligence gathered from Inquisitorial records revealed the following: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/Madoktopus/W40k/imagejpg1_zps9d01dc0d.jpg Long story short, most of the marines lost a wound (we all had 3), The Golden skull assault marine single handly got the Trygon down to it's final wound by tactiacl retreat and firing plasma straight down its throat on multiple turns. The monster was then slain by an interrupting Interceptor who then took the all the glory. Meanwhile, the death company marine proceeded to headbutt any bulkhead or genestealer that got in his way, and the other grey knight with flamer miscast hammerhand and instead cast 'hamsterhand' much to all our amusement. Final score: CHOAS WINS :D Khalor made it off the ship alive, just as planned. Happy with the ouctome, I bought myself this: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/Madoktopus/W40k/imagejpg1_zpsc6c04f77.jpg So if you have read this far, well done! What's next for Khalor? A shiny new paint job and some more conversion I think, but he has already been put on the backshelf in favour of something else. His time will come again.
