Sheesh Mode
I'm looking to start a militarum tempestus army and just squandered an opportunity to buy a small army for a good price. What do you guys do for your Militarum Tempestus to make it affordable and effective? Vash
Dragon Forge have some alternative models. They are a bit cheaper and have more possibilities to alternative positions. But I am the wrong guy to talk to when it comes to affordable... I basically spend twice the amount to make my Tempestus Scions... Sheesh Mode
All I see on their site are conversion pieces. Granted those are some nice conversion pieces, especially the heads (which are quite rare) but what about models? Vash
ops sorry, I meant dream forge The troopers are called Eisenkern Stormtroopers. http://dreamforge-games.com/collections/all These guys was one of the candidates I had before I decided to make my own, and keep the Games Workshop style. If you buy one Eisenkern Stormtrooper accessory set you will have really nice bits to play around with. One box of 20 soldiers is cheaper than one Tempestus Scions bo of 5 men. WarriorFish
Buy everything online, taking advantage of box deals if they exist. It's the best way to get new models. If you want second hand then there's plenty of places to go, but make sure you're focusing on the models when considering the value of a purchase. Vash
Yah, getting cheap models isn't always the solution. If you don't like the appearance you will be annoyed and less motivated to paint them and even game with them. Get what you like, and take it slow if needed. I've been saving for some time to build up my AM force. Castellan Cato
I've also been considering a scions list, but have been discouraged by the considerable price from GW. $7 per model is rediculous even if it is beatifully sculpted elite infantry. If you look hard enough you can find deals though. Ebay or your favorite wholesaler isnt a bad choice, especially if you can get them in bulk. I've found the 5 man box for 25-28 USD. If your have a bigger budget, the Storm Scions box set is AMAZING value. Ebay has it for >$250, so your are basically getting the two tauroxes and commissar free. Sheesh Mode
It is tough to find suitable count-as models that do not look like space-nazis or WWI assault troops. Kilofix
What about these guys: http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/AFTERLIFE/Republic/Republic-Grenadiers Not as cheap as Dream Forge but not as expensive as Scions. elmo
I bought "black ops" models from anvil for my HH DA force. I cannot recommend them enough. In fact, if I didn't have the painting queue from hell I would get some. Jolemai
I bought "black ops" models from anvil for my HH DA force. I cannot recommend them enough. In fact, if I didn't have the painting queue from hell I would get some. That reminds me, I did a quick tally of my painting queue. Excluding xenos, it sits at 3.8k... WarriorFish
It's not about how much Guard you have on your table, but how much Guard you have in your heart... Vash
Painting que... I really hate that. Once it starts, it just keeps on growing. I have stuff from 10 years or more back I have yet to open from their blister packs. Need to find them though... So anyway, my plan nowadays is to paint what I buy... boring I know... With that said, consider to buy models that you know you will be motivated to paint. Castellan Cato
In response to my previous post, GW just put up a new web bundle. 6 scion squads and three valks for $408. Big chunk of change, but by my count that's almost $175 in savings... *edit* totally did my math wrong. Completely wrong. Nothing to see here. Move along :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299095-count-as-militarum-tempestus/#findComment-3863339 Share on other sites
