Donkalleone
Currently i have an Army of 1500 points and want to buy additional Units to reach 1850 points. Since money isnt free, i want to buy these Units first and maybe the second Option later. My Army for now is Rune Priest , 5 LongFangs and a Razorback Arjac , 5 TDA and a LRCrus 10 GH in Rhino 10 GH in Rhino Sicaran Battle Tank It isnt about if this army is good or bad , but i search good Support/Addition for the Current Build. I searched and thought and found 2 Compositions that i like. 2 Dreads (Bjorn/Blizz and Murderfang) with 2 (3) Pods or Stormwolf with 2 Landspeeders. I like both the Stormwolf and the Dreads (exspecially Murderfang). It maybe not Competive but i go for what i like first. What are your thoughts on that cause i read many different Post and cant decide even if i have a favorite. I know both Units have different roles. Z00Z
An interesting list for sure.Backline shooting capability with a rumbling force moving up. TBH, I think the stormwolf and 2 landspeeders will work well with what you got. That would be my vote Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299141-stormwolf-and-landspeeder-vs-dreads-in-pods/#findComment-3859547 Share on other sites
Donkalleone
An addiotional Question is the Skyshield LandingPad worth for a single Stormwolf? or should i avoid Hover from Start (in a 4+) and better play it in Reserve? Cause i might purchase the Skyshield if its good. CatSmasher
I don't think its a great play with one flier, because it opens up a some weapons that wouldn't otherwise be able to shoot it reliably. Everyone knows a 4+ save is nice, but nothing to rely on. Besides, a reserve flier will help you counter opponent deep strikes and mobile untis. In Conclusion you prefer the Stormwolf/Landspeeder Variant, too? CatSmasher
I didn't even incorporate an answer to the OP, sorry. I think the Dpod Dreds works well with the way your current list is set up. It makes sense to apply some immediate pressure "bee in a bonet" technique, as the dreds/pod can plug up shooting lanes and give some cover where there might not have been any. FenrisWolf
I agree with CatSmasher. Although I too love the Stormgrr, I think the dreads in pods is better for the list you have. Plus many (but not all!) opponents skyfire weapons suck against ground targets as they are only hitting on 6's. rgr_maddog
Drop Pods and Dreads give 1st turn pressure, but likely dead dreads in the next (especially Murderfang). Drop pods give you a great option with your troops, but you don't have many (troops or pods). Stormwolf won't have any effect on turn 1, but should be around most of the game dropping a lot of dakka, and giving your army some AA. I was in similar shoes, and went with stormwolf when I got good deal. I'm new to flyers, and it's still been great. Without that experience, I'd be seconding catSmaser. I'd suggest more boots on the ground for you over dreads or speeders (GH, BC, WG, or TWC [plus you could use some as different HQ options]), but in my opinion the stormwolf will give your army more overall support then the others. CatSmasher
Agreed with above. Murderfang can drop turn one, but not to bring pressure. You need to play some LOS games with him and be picky with your target. Turn one dreads could be cheapy with melta, or hearty with bliz sheild/axe.
