Space Hulk Ascension

Hey All. I have just picked it up today and played the first few missions as the Ultramarines. So far it s pretty fun and deviates from the original game enough to justify the price. Really liking the custom ability of all the terminators. Any one else pick this one up?

Bought it, played a bit of it while I was waiting in the Queue and Lagg hell that is Warlords of Draenor.

Lot slicker than the Regular. Individual customization of the marines (to an extent) is available as is squad composition editing. (but you can only have 1 heavy and 1 sgt/libby).

Guns have fire modes. eg Storm Bolter can have aimed fire at 2Ap, Single Shot at 1Ap  or spray which is 2AP, fires more but has less accuracy. Things like that.

Combi-Weapons are in as is the Cyclone Missile Launcher.

Individual Terminators have equipment slots to equip things like Servo Skulls (which increase perception by+5). Lot more RPG elements than the Standard one.

There are also 'Perks' and all weapons generate heat. For storm bolters, heat reaching max makes them jam, AC and Plasma Weapons explode, etc. You can vent up to 50% of it per turn for 2Ap but forgo shooting if you do so. Means that there is a bit less of a random factor as to when your Storm Bolter Jams or Assault Cannon Explode.

You can block vents Genestealers would try coming through by placing a terminator there though there could be/are drawbacks to this.

S'all I've been able to glean from the little I've played so far. Took some getting used to so don't skip the tutorial if you get it.

How different is it to the regular Space Hulk on PC?

I'd say alot. I mean it's still Space Hulk, but the game feels like a different game.

It doesn't feel like you're playing the board game, it feels like you're playing Space Hulk the video game.

I really like the RPG elements and customisation, too.

I've actually found it easier so far.

Playing on Normal, but being able to block up the genestealer entry points makes it easier imo. Just gotta keep aggressively advancing and blocking up those holes.

Very different to the first game, where you'd sort of defensively advance, making sure you overwatch as few possible attack vectors as possible.
