A new beginning.

So I started to get the itch to paint something else and after lurking here for awhile I finally asked a few weeks ago where to start out if one wanted to paint the Emperor's finest.  I figured I'd start out maybe in January or February but the call ended up being too tempting.  So here I am with the beginnings of a new crusade.

Just a rhino, some upgrade bits, and a tac box but I'm excited to get started and join those who all ready stand proud in these hallowed halls.

A Crusader Squad in a Rhino, as good a place as any to begin your Zealous Crusade.

I would rather them be in a LRC. msn-wink.gif

Tis the next thing on my list brother. Right after I figure out my HQ choice.

I saw something similar on Evilbay I almost picked up, but I'm already knee deep in plastic I need to paint! tongue.png That will make a great jumping off point for you!

TBH it was spotting this up for $60 on Ebay that sprung me onto starting my crusade sooner rather then later.

I don't know FP, I have a rather notorious Warlord Terminator Chaplain... which always gets the Immovable Object Trait. Rather useful because he gets It Will Not Die and he's remarkable when doing Invuln. Saves...

But High Marshal Helbrecht ofcourse takes top cake... now if only he had Orbital Bombardment...

Orbital Bombardment is just a really big Whirlwind.  He's keepin' it real.

Completely off topic, but now I have an insane desire to model an HQ wielding a Whirlwind :/.

While I'm waiting on a reply for as to how it is you simulate Frame Relay in a virtual environment I figured I'd do some work on this Crusade.  Been a bit busier then originally anticipated but my case study is due on the 10th so I'll pray for forgiveness and get the majority of the work done after that point probably.

So I just wanted to post that I think I've decided on a theme for the force.  Varadon.  Some clean up of course needs to be done on the rhino and as always I really need to invest in a better camera.  I'm wanting to form a core BT list to play as pure BT but any supplemental models I think I'm going to raid my left over tactical bits / Stormclaw box for.

I passed my case study last night hooking up routers, switches, web servers, and all that so I took more time to paint my starting Templars this morning.  Feels good now I can focus more on painting and studying for the final and then my cert exam.

So after about 30 minutes of fiddling with the position of my desk lamp, and the blinds on my window I think these photos will be a little less blurry.  Humbly done so I can be righteously nitpicked.  Though fair warning as of taking the photos I realized I didn't remove the mold lines on the neophytes (and haven't decided on what heads I want to use) or the lone powerfist.  I'll do penance for it.

As it turns out I forgot to order pure white during my last Reaper purchase leaving me with GW ceramite white over white primer for the shoulder pads and the aquillas.  And while I liked ceramite white on the vehicle it just doesn't go on as smoothly as the reaper paints do which leaves me extremely dissatisfied with how my pads over all came out.  When I get some pure white i'm going to go back over them and see if I can smooth them out and have a consistent white across the whole surface.  And of course touch up the trim and some other areas I'm noticing now that have little white flecks on them with some Pure Black.  I did like my attempt at "burning" the melta though.  Not sure how well it can be seen in photo but its bronzed into purple, black, then leadbelcher as it get further from the end of the barrel.  Any cloth was painted how the shoulders are then hit with a thinned creamy ivory as I thought it would look better.  I'll leave that up to suggestion.
