Evening all!

I am laid up for the next 8 or so weeks after having an op on my ankle. (Pics available if wanted and not against rules).

Question is what to do with my time apart from painting and being a forum regular sharing what experience i have had.

Any ideas?

A whole eight weeks off work? ohmy.png Where do I sign up? laugh.png

I think you've answered the question though. All your Guard models aren't going to paint themselves... I'm sure such noble work will also aid your recovery as the Emperor looks down approvingly upon your deeds! Perhaps you can write up some tacticas for us, or a hobby tutorial or two if you have something to share? I'm working on a Russ tactica at the moment when I can to add to the Tactica Generalis but it's going to be a long road if I'm the only one adding to it msn-wink.gif

At the moment I am having to rest, ankle above heart level to reduce swelling etc.

soon as I can paint I will.

I will sort out my magnetisation tutorial over the next week once I finish the conversion.

As for other tutorials/tacticas. Does anyone have anything in particular that they feel would be good for me to get stuck into and sort out?

Do we want unit reviews? Sample army lists? Force org chart reviews?

Hey, hope the recovery goes well.

I recently was laid up for a few weeks, getting more mobile now. Had two skin cancers removed, one in my back was ok but the one cut out from my leg had problems, was quite deep, had spread and the stitches popped, got infected, was on penicillin for 2 weeks all nasty business but pretty much over now, its healing.

What I found useful with the down time:

researching

making lists

planning purchases

reviewing FW models/books

planning colour schemes/army background

viewing threads here for inspiration

So, what I came up with was a complete army list, starting as allies then expanding at a future point to a full foc, with colour schemes history, allies etc. Now I just need the time to make it all happen.

Good luck with your army endeavours! Even reading was helpful ;-)

Looks like the regiment is suffering from the rigours of campaigning! This simply won't do, I'll have to have a stern word with the medicae staff about the penalties for failing to keep the troops fighting fit... I wish good health for all!

That's a great idea scats, a FOC review would be a great addition for new recruits as we have quite a few of late. Some basic army list samples would also be a good idea, as it's not something I'd be any good at :tu:

Well the environment is "There is only War!"

Ok well I will set to work on a FOC review. If anyone has any imput to help then send it over. Be nice to give something back.

Oh, I also used the time to check my paint levels and hobby supplies (glue, brushes, basing materials etc). Ordered some paints so that when I'm ready, and /or a paint challenge is on, like the 'big guns' I will be ready right away to get stuck in msn-wink.gif

My one regret was I did paint some figures (vic minis) and I should really of waited til I was off the meds first biggrin.png

You could try writing the story of your regiment's history or maybe one or two short stories from the point of view of a typical guardsmen.
