KBA
The XX brought me here, but I stay for the fluff. Great work, I looooove it! Thanks! And thanks for indirectly reminding me to post the fluff here in this thread. Really appreciate the fluff kudos Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299460-kbas-march-of-the-legions-diorama/page/2/#findComment-3906004 Share on other sites
sockwithaticket
Fantastic model with fluff to match, I like how contemplative he looks and how the whole piece sums up the fact that the astartes are designed for war and war alone. KBA
Salamanders are up next. Going for a Legion Champion with a plated, artificer look which I think the Sons of Horus Torso works really well in complementing the Mk III legs. http://s2.postimg.org/mz1sg6i6x/sally_WIP.jpg He's going to be facing off against quite a nasty possessed, so I'm going for braced/ready stance. And no, he won't have dual hammers, as cool as that'd be. Just testing out a couple styles. KBA
Did a little more work on the XVIIIth. Went with the company champion shoulder pads as their sharp edges complement the SoH torso, and the edges of the feet guards and the helm's bridge. Went with the Thunder Wolves T-hammer for the same reason: it has those sharp edges. http://s8.postimg.org/xen5y4m05/P2082016.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/q17rz61yd/P2082017.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/5d94kfgpx/P2082018.jpg Only thing I'm iffy on is the helm, only because I've tried a few different options that really compete, namely this one: http://s8.postimg.org/paf1tdzl1/P2082020.jpg http://s8.postimg.org/imig6sg2t/P2082021.jpg I love how the mask works with the flamer, but lose some of that sharp-edge unison I was blabbering about earlier. Decisions, decisions.. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299460-kbas-march-of-the-legions-diorama/page/2/#findComment-3911996 Share on other sites
Angrypantz
I like the bare helmeted look but I think if you are really undecided then paint the bare head and the helmet and see which one looks better on the finished article. KBA
That's two tasty bits for one project though. This will probably be the only Salamander I ever do. At any rate, I think I'm going to go with the breather head. Just more bad ass at the end of the day. marine7312000
I vote for the helmet. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299460-kbas-march-of-the-legions-diorama/page/2/#findComment-3912225 Share on other sites
Tyrannicide
You've hit a home run with this one, KBA. I often find when combining pieces from mulitple kits, the goal should be to reach a finished product that looks on par or better than the original sets. Yours is totally in the latter category. The barehead is much more characterful, and you could really turn it up if you wanted to flex your gs muscle a bit and sculpt some sick dreadlocks. Please tell me you're going with a more subdued olive drab color. Daemon2027
The bare head really sets the model off. The rebreather keeps to the edges of the armour, I agine that in olive green next to the dark skin of the XVIIIth, those edges will stand out. A really excellent model.
