just for a reference, a 1500 pts game should allow you to field 250 models with 250 pts left to spend on upgrade weapons

although personally i find it hard to deploy over a 100 infantry models, and still keep the game fun and of a decent time rate.

Imo a infantry heavy, but still viable list would look something like this:

cadian 645th light infantry:

1 command squad; 3 platoons (PCS, 3x inf sqd). upgrades as you see fit up to 700 pts max (100 infantry models)

cadian 321th mechanized

1 command squad: 1 platoon (PCS, 2x inf sqd),2 veteran sqd, all mounted in chimeras, upgrades up to 800 pts (50 infantry, 6 chimeras)

nets in at exactly 1500 pts, and both regiments can work as standalone units. The next part would be to start up an armoured regiment to bring some extra hard hitting armour to the field (500 pts nets you 3 leman russes with some upgrades)

Sorry to hear about your injury.  I know well how much it can suck. Tore my ACL probably not even a year in (if not before), and didn't get it fixed until I was well past my 4th year. Luckily Bones mend, and you can try again if your heart's in it. If you do, I wish you luck, and God speed.

I, the commander of The Black Devil's Brigade, Welcome to the Guard, where, it is painfully apparent, the real men live. I'm also going for a snowbound themed army. Out of universe, mine is based off of the 1st Special Service Force, or the Devil's Brigade, from WW2, they fought in the ETO in the Alps, and in the Aleutian Islands when the Japanese decided to try their hand at Invading America. In universe they mostly see action as a hard hitting rapid deployment force, frequently seen supporting the Astartes of the Space Wolves Chapter. They are experts in Alpine, Arctic, and Urban operations.

Once more welcome to the fold, There's Beer and Whisky to be had in the Heritage Room (read: Unit Bar), as well as advice to be had from the hoary, grizzled, vets.
