Frater Cornelius
I am considering to get myself a Lord of War. Not Grimnar though. I want a Fellblade. I am considering to convert a Baneblade box (and re-sell the left over bitz). My FLGS owner told me what if I was going to get a Baneblade to do that, he would gift me the Terminus Ultra upgrade set so that I have the required amount of Lascannons. Do you guys think that tank is worth its 540 points? Or you think I should save my money? I am not planning to do any major apoc matches. I will only use it as a LoW in regular 40k games and maybe for the lulz on a tournament that allows Super-Heavies. Edit: Typhon is also an option. It is cheaper (points and money because I will convert a Land Raider). Or neither Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299479-fellblade/ Share on other sites
Sohail187
I had this question around 8 months ago in my mind.... Specially after the new IA V2 came out. Lord of wars more common these days what could i get to suppliment an offencive fast moving army... that can shoot and kill stuff! FELLBLADE!!! now alone it lacked everything... but then i discovered battle of keyloc. All of a sudden Str 10 ap 1 large blast ignore cover special rules and 7" blast str 8 ap3 ignore cover special rule or str 9 ap2 ignore cover special rule Erm yes please? + armored cerimate is a must to protect it from alpha strike! so its 640! However i think it is very polite that you advise the player on the day to not put his army carry case to far from the table specially close to turn 1 and 2 as he will be required to pack most of it away as soon as he has got them out. http://i62.tinypic.com/30axj7s.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/xc7gqx.jpg http://i57.tinypic.com/ie184k.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299479-fellblade/#findComment-3867123 Share on other sites
Skeld Ironthews
I played against one last week and it was horrible. I was tabled in 3 turns as I couldn't get enough guns and power fists against it (and the Knight he had) fast enough. Frater Cornelius
But it costs 565 with the almost mandatory Ceramite upgrade and over 600 with a legacy of glory. A Typhon already ignores cover and is close to immune to most retaliation due to 14/14/14 and ceramite and has a much more universal and potent main gun at 375 points. It is also cheaper to make or buy the original. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299479-fellblade/#findComment-3867324 Share on other sites
Donkalleone
Immer in comperasion the Fellblade beats out the Typhoon in nearly evry aspect. Its still has 14 Front armor and double the HP. HAs without any Upgrades 1x S10AP2 , 1x S8AP3 Ord , 4x S9AP2 Twinlinked and a heavybolter. Lets give it the Glory and Ceramite and we are at 640 points , a Typhoon with Ceramite and without Glory Cost 375. Except for the Side/Rear Armor the Fellblade at least Doubles the effectivness from a Typhoon. if u take 2 Typhon (theoritically) u have the same HP but still less attacks and its 110 points more expensive. Fellblade>>>>>Typhoon. The only reason why u wont take a Feelblade is u cant fint the money or points. If i ever am crazy enough to buy one of these (fellblades) i would build my army around him...and play ironfist for free "I will not die" on him. Frater Cornelius
I disagree. Typhon main gun is S10 AP1 7" against the S8 AP3 7" and S10 AP2 5". All a Fellblade will do is cause a few glances in a tank since it will only explode on a 6. A Typhon can deal with any target due to S10 and blow up tanks with AP1. AV14 rear is a massive defense against melee opponents. A squad of PF TDA and TWC can threaten the Fellblade but the Typhon will laugh at it most of the time because 14 rear is hard to kill, even with melee. The side sponsons are negligible so the main gun is the deciding factor. I consider the Typhon main gun superior because it can kill more targets. Fellblade will glace a tank, maybe kill it with its Armourbane shot and kill a bunch of MEQ with its 7" blast. The Typhon can potentially explode multiple tanks and can threaten just about any unit type. Fair enough, Fellblade still has the Demolisher, but paying almost double for the Fellblade and having to buy a Legacy to ignore cover is inferior to having 7" ignore cover S10 AP1 in my eyes. Donkalleone
i wouldnt say sponsons are to be ignored. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299479-fellblade/#findComment-3867364 Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
Okay then, Fellblade gets 4 TLLC shots while the Typhon gets 2 LC shots. Fellblade also gets a TLHB and a Demolisher cannon. I really do not see those making much of an impact compared. to a S10 AP1 7" Blast. The Fellblade feels much like a relic of the 6th edition, where AP2 was a realible way to kill tanks and AP3 could still kill it. Right now I think I prefer the sheer killing power of the Typhon gun. It gives me another 200+ points to spend on othet things. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299479-fellblade/#findComment-3867370 Share on other sites

Frater Cornelius
Thanks, but I found the store already. If I go forward, I was planning to combine that gun with a stock Land Raider and make it a bit wider, to fit with the width of the Typhon. 105 quid plus shipping is a bit much when I can get it done with 70 Euros. Sohail187
I guess its personal taste and how much you are willing to invest into something. 2 ignore cover shots to one for me is just always going to be better and then 2 las cannon shots at 2 separate targets both twin linked or if positioned well 4 las cannons shots should do something. Frater Cornelius
Okay, let me ask from another perspective. Which one do you consider more metal. Which one personifies force and strength the most. While the Typhon is a tad smaller and with fewer shots, it has that heavy look with its bulky form and the one shot is pure destruction. Sohail187
The fellblade on a table is just intimidating... like there is no tomorrow! not only is it mahooosive but that turret is fun! also!! it is a great great great meat shield :D. You no longer giv eup VP for ever 3 hull points, so u can live if you loose some! to shield some units across the battlefield! Sturm Moonwolf
I have a Typhon and use it frequently. I absolutely love it for the way it fits seamlessly in at lower point level games. Now if I was playing say a 2500pt game I would go for the Fellblade. I say just go with your own rule of cool in deciding which to get. I'm an Apocalypse player mostly so I use just about everything. You could always just go for a Cerberus too and nerf every superheavy on the table incapable of firing big guns... Donkalleone
Would u play against a good made Papercrafted Fellblade? Cause its really expensive on and really good build one from scratch could only cost around 30bucks and lot of work. Frater Cornelius
I don't really care. You can stick a barrel to a shoebox and call it Fellblade. It will die all the same ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299479-fellblade/#findComment-3870143 Share on other sites

You can stick a barrel to a shoebox and call it Fellblade. It will die all the same fat chance of it dieing! . Used mine in over 30+ games and can remember every time it has died. 4 occasions it has died and no more than that. Vs 3 wraithknights with 6 str 10 shots, haywire spam, gause spam, meltas which dont work, in close combat, vs D shots. name it, it has survived it!
