GodEmperorOfMankind
Hi Guys, I'm looking at building a Daemon Prince, but for aesthetics I'd not want to give him either wings or power armour. How much of a drawback is this? How could I run him like this? Any other suggestions? Forté
Not a drawback at all. So long as the size is about right and it looks daemonic (which doesn't actually narrow it down at all) then you're good to go. GodEmperorOfMankind
I meant from a gaming point of view, is it much of a drawback? I plan on using the daemon prince kit to make Tim curry from legend, having watched the film the other night. Just wondered how much it'll hurt in game if he's foot slogging and only has His daemon save? Any tips on how to use him? King Jackal
What mark are you thinking? I often use (successfully) running Slaanesh princes with Daemons book but that's offset by having multiple and having the access to Greater Rewards. He'll probably be shut down quite quickly not having 3+ or wings. Forté
Would make for a cheap DP though. But I'm not sure that kit would do Tim justice. http://www.flickeringmyth.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/timCurryLegend.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299615-daemon-prince-what-to-do/#findComment-3869341 Share on other sites
GodEmperorOfMankind
I was thinking of modifying a blood letter head, green stuffing a chin and nose on there. Unless you have suggestions forte? I know you're good at this kind of thing ;) I'd not thought of using a daemon ally to get extra options, will have to take a look at that. Will mean getting a squad of blood letters too but I'm sure I could cope with that. Forté
I'd be more effective inclined to look around at other miniature companies. Mostly aiming for the 54mm scale. GodEmperorOfMankind
I want to use him in my local GW store though, so it's gonna have to stay with GW parts I'm afraid. Forté
That's fair enough. Maybe look at the LOTR Balrog for a starting point. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299615-daemon-prince-what-to-do/#findComment-3869506 Share on other sites
GodEmperorOfMankind
Now there's a thought! Thanks for the input. Gonna need to find a unicorn horn for him as well. Now, suggestions on how to play him? Will be looking at the daemon ally option, but what can I use him as? Just a distraction? Forté
Set him up as a summoner is an option. Distraction works too but that's an expensive one. the jeske
Playing as GUO counts as. is probably. the best . thing to do. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299615-daemon-prince-what-to-do/#findComment-3869664 Share on other sites
GodEmperorOfMankind
Guo?? If you explain it jeske I'll consider it :) Looked at the codex daemon rules, 2 greater rewards and a lesser reward to swap for an axe of khorne, with mark of khorne, just over 200 points. The greater rewards will more than likely beef up his survivability (unless I roll the only two that buff offensive) Squad of blood letters for the price of a helbrute and I can ds the lot as one squad. Should be good for a laugh if nothing else. Now to see if there's an cheap balrogs on eBay ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299615-daemon-prince-what-to-do/#findComment-3869682 Share on other sites
Iron Skull Mask
Maybe give him a "disk of Tzeench" kind of base or use some thrusters to give him a jumppack. I'd definitely recommend some sort of wings. They really are what makes or brakes the model gaming wise. GodEmperorOfMankind
Thanks ism, I could just give him actual wings, it would fit better than a disc or thrusters, I just wanted to make a model based on the lord of darkness from the film legend. He doesn't have wings so didn't really want to give him them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299615-daemon-prince-what-to-do/#findComment-3869695 Share on other sites

Uprising
Could give him a wing tattoo and use that as count as. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299615-daemon-prince-what-to-do/#findComment-3869718 Share on other sites
GodEmperorOfMankind
I could give him a tramp stamp while I'm at it ;) Lol. Nice thinking uprising, wonder how well that'll 'fly' at pick up games in store. I guess I'll either have to give him wings for reals or just have a daemon that can't fly ;) Cheers forte, I'm not a fan of nurgle so will rule that out, I know they have the best rules but i can't do it. Forté
Don't write off the GUO. They can take a lot of punishment. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299615-daemon-prince-what-to-do/#findComment-3869741 Share on other sites
Verbal Underbelly
It doesn't have to have wings to fly (think anime) and you can have a GUO without it being Nurgle. However if you do want foot based then go for daemon of Slaanesh for the extra run move. GodEmperorOfMankind
Not sure I can reconcile having a GUO that's not Nurgle? the jeske
GUO is just a set of rules to use with any more or less same sized no recast model[assuming you play in an official place]. You must understand that there isn't realy a good way to run a DP model as a DP without wings[power armor is not mandatory]. Also nothing says that all demons or demon Princes[as opposed to mortals upgraded to demon princes] have to look the same. The biggest champion of khorn is a huge bronze block that goes up and down and crushs people/demons/etc[in fact khorn worshipers see it as a blessing to be crushed by him]. Zardoz
You do know you can sculpt his clothing as a 'counts as' wings and armor. Chaos armor is not always metal bits. It can be silks or other materials. Also, you can say that it flairs up into mighty pinions when he chooses to fly.
