Terkael
Hello folks, I am foraying into 30k with my favorite legion, the Word Bearers. I am having a little trouble with the combination of rules (specifically word bearers legion rules and Erebus being a chaplain). To access a rite of war would I have to take a praetor and Erebus (serving as the chaplain) or could I have Erebus as the warlord and just take a standard consul? Any advice or assistance would be appreciated. Glory to Lorgar! ChainMachete
I asked Forgeworld the following questions last january: "1. Does Erebus count as a Chaplain for the purposes of fulfilling the mandatory additional Chaplain HQ requirement for Word Bearers? He is (or was once) their High Chaplain. Does he also count as a Diabolist for the purposes of fulfulling the Word Bearers Rite Of War requirement, since he's able to give units Dark Channelling? 2. Similarly does Kor Phaeron count as a Diabolist?" And got this answer: "1. Yes, he does count as a Diabolist and a Chaplain. 2. Yes, he does count as a Diabolist." The chaplain/centurion requirement is in addition to your mandatory HQ requirement, so you still need another HQ (but not a Moritat since he never counts for your mandatory requirement either). So Erebus & any other HQ except a Moritat, opens up all the Rites of War including the Word Bearers one. Also, even if you don't use the Word Bearer Rite of War, with Erebus, you still still get to ally in Daemons. However, the cheapest way of accessing Rites of War is Kor Phaeron and a bare-bones Centurion, though I think Erebus and either a Librarian or a Master of Signal probably offer the most utility. If using Lorgar, the cheapest is probably a bare-bones Centurion and Diabolist.
