Done my usual Friday scouting around on the FW website to see what is new:

I was begining to think they were holding back the standard edition of Conquest until all the SE copies were sold, but here we are.

Still no IF Upgrade Packs though...

I must say I dislike the name for the Russ' gun. Demi-Culverin implies that its smaller than a culverin, when this is clearly much bigger. Evidently they created volkites as infantry weapons first before having a "Dude, lets put this on a tank!" moment.

I quite like that Incinerator kit. Real tempted to get one just to build, but I have a sinking suspicion I know where that'll end:

With me ordering a Legion Glaive.

lmao, the old volkite martian death ray domino effect

Yeah I shot myself in the foot by making templar bros with our legion kit and gk power swords :p

Oh well that just means more templars. Will also probably pick up 20+ phalanx warders and breachers at the same time...

Is there anyway to shoehorn that leman russ into a legion army?

Pretty easily. A Solar Aux commander and lasrifle section fulfill the Ally compulsory HQ/Troops at a really cheap cost, then you can use the ally heavy support slot and fill it with 1-3 assault Russes (Incinerator/Demolisher/Executioner). If you really wanted you could fill the ally fast attack slot with 3 more regular Russes....

Warning: 30k Leman Russ tanks do not come with sponsons, ever

Also quickly losing the will not to get some Solar Auxilia just as an ally force... oh man I hope they release more before their xmas shipping deadlines

I feeling like I'm going nut's as I'm writing this, but have they had a spike in sales of Conquest SE now that the regular edition has come out for sale???

I had a theory going that ForgeWorld were holding off putting out the regular edition of Conquest until they sold all the Special Editions, and that figure had been somewhat static for around a week. You'd see every few days that picture for the Special Edition would be updated to show 50 fewer copies were remaining, but it'd had been flatlining for a good week or so. Last Friday FW put out a mail saying there were <500 copies remaining, and I'm fairly sure we'd managed to get it down to <350 by this morning.

Now we're at <250 - have people suddenly seen that the Special Edition isn't that much more expensive and thought "Another £12, sure - why not!"???

I must say I dislike the name for the Russ' gun. Demi-Culverin implies that its smaller than a culverin, when this is clearly much bigger. Evidently they created volkites as infantry weapons first before having a "Dude, lets put this on a tank!" moment.

It sticks with FW's use of old usage of terms however. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demi-cannon A demi-cannon was bigger than a Culverin, but smaller than a regular cannon. So a Demi-Culverin is bigger than a Culverin but smaller than a Carronade. Makes perfect sense. ( Unless I just snookered myself and failed at explaining it :O )

Yes, you snookered yourself. A demi-culverin should be smaller than a culverin. And much smaller than a carronade. The correct term should have been demi-carronade.

Of course, if a magos decided to rebel against the man and dictate that 'demi' means 'twice bigger...'
