Captain Coolpants
Hi guys, I've been playing knights for years now, and before that I had wolf's and iron hands. So nothing but Marines... So I'm getting a lil bored of them... So I've been thinking of starting a new army for some variety every now and again. I want to start an army that's nothing at all like Marines, but could still be allied. The most obvious answer to this would be astra militarium.. But that's just more humans, just without the super. So what are your thoughts? Nothing really stands out for me other than daemons, but couldn't ally then lol. Brother Dallo
Barring Xenos, which is a no go topic here, there are relatively few options. You could consider Knights (ie the large mechanical variety) or consider playing Sisters of Battle? I'm not sure what you're looking for. Is it an army that can be allied to your Imperium stuff, but that doesn't play like any of the armies that you currently own? Because Guard would fall under that criteria, but you don't seem overly keen. If you'd consider 30k stuff, you could do either a Mechanicum army or Solar Auxilia, though I'm not sure if they can legally ally with 40k stuff. Can't see many people having issues with it though, if you asked before hand. Hope this helps. Everon
Well you want imperial and didnt sound keen on the just human idea. So scratching out militarum, tempestus, sisterhood, and inquisition, that leaves 6 or 7 space marine options which have you bored and imperial knights. They are interesting because them alone is hard against an army. Out numbered literally 25-1 in many games Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299788-ideas-for-starting-a-new-army/#findComment-3873836 Share on other sites
Captain Coolpants
Well I'd still go xenos. Just means I won't be sharing transports and stuff. Plus it'll only be the occasional ally, and the occasional only xenos army. I'll still mostly use my GK Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299788-ideas-for-starting-a-new-army/#findComment-3873863 Share on other sites
Everon
In that case, Eldar compliment GK very well with cost effective and speed. Necrons would as well for firepower and cost Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299788-ideas-for-starting-a-new-army/#findComment-3873871 Share on other sites
Captain Coolpants
In that case, Eldar compliment GK very well with cost effective and speed. Necrons would as well for firepower and costI'm actually interested in both those armies, mainly eldar, but I don't wanna seem like I'm abandoning our lesser dex for possibly the best dex. And I've had no real experience with either. How would necrons be good for me? Aren't they another expensive elite sorta army? Brother Dallo
I'd probably hold off on purchasing the Necron codex. It's likely to come along after Blood Angels, so things could change. raverrn
Eldar are a crazy amount of fun to play. Their mobility and options are nuts and it makes it almost feel like you're playing a different game. Highly recommend. They bring more power options we dont get. Their nice to bring anti armor as well as meat shield since they got all same stats as pa but they can rise from the dead. And if you look at escalation or even half their forge world options, D weapons out the ying yang with shielding that only your opponent can break bgetting a pen, sacrifice a goat offer blood of a virgin and then drop an angry marine battle barge on it and then you might kill that one model Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299788-ideas-for-starting-a-new-army/#findComment-3874116 Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
Guys this is the Grey Knight forum. If you wanna discuss other army options, feel free to do so on a different forum. Sorry, but this is kinda the definition of off-topic thread.
