Just Curious...

ORKILL

Recommended Posts

1. Usually around 2-3 a week, sometimes 4. Make that 10-20 a month, depending on how I feel and my opponents. Last month I only played 2 and one of those was fantasy. Was preoccupied with conversions and real life things.

2. In 2014, none. Tournaments start in 2015 for me, once my SW are done. Hoping to start with 1 Tournament in 1-3 months and go upwards from there. Not sure how many I can cram in due to university and all that jazz.

3. See above, but yes, certainly.

4. No. Apoc is not cup of tea. I only own around 2.5k points SW + UM, which is enough to build varied 1.5k to 2k lists out of the units I tend to use, depending on list-building parameters.

People sometimes ask me to be a referee during apoc games though, due to my fairly decent understanding of rules, but I wouldn't actually play it :D

1. On average how many games do you play a month?

2. How many of those games are played in tournaments?

3. Do you attend GTs?

4. How often do you play Apoc or games over 2500 points?

#1 - 2 or 3 games. I only have one friend who is currently playing 40K, the rest of them have moved to Mali-stupid.

#2 - 2 months ago, I played in a single tournament. It was the only one I played during 2014. I play a lot more casual and or pick up games.

#3 - Nope. I cannot, nor do I want to keep up with hyper competitive lists. I also have found that I do not care for the personality that some of the tournament scene brings. I'm too easy going to puff up my chest and act above everyone else. I am not saying all tourney players are like this, but it's the few that always help me decide not to attend.

#4 - My best bud and I play 1850 most of the time, but I would say every 4th or 5th game we play between 2500 and 4000 points. He's got enough Orks to choke a Squiggoth. And a Squiggoth.

End of Line

1. Maybe once every second month (Damn real life, kids, spouses and other shores).

2. Haven't played a tournament since 2005, See reasons above plus as a former Chaos player I lost the will when my Slaanesh daemon bomb army became unplayable.  :)

3. Never I live in Sweden and never heard about any GT here.

4. Maybe twice a year, Imperials vs everything else. 75k+ games.

Well not the best place to discuss this but at least in fantasy you know what you are facing and where the army is taken from. Also it takes a better general to win a battle rather than a good combo. Plus ive been playing cor 12 years so im kimda biased. Ive neer been a big 40k enthusiast. I only played because marines are badass. Anyway pm me if you want to continue this

sorry

Once a week if I'm lucky. Have kids and a full time job, unfortunately/fortunately. So painting is a slow, sporadic process for me since I'm usually too tired from the day to paint once the kids are down. I have to schedule games way ahead of time.

1. 2-3 games a month. I have a home game that i've had going about every two week or so, its awesome. I still have some friends at the LGS where i can sneak in a game if the timing is right.

2. Played in my first doubles tournament this year, and i plan to go back next year as well.

3. I am interested, but only from afar

4. Occasionally the local store hosts one, I think they are great.

1. One or two, all in house games due to 40k drying up at the local club. (That's for a different thread though)

2. Last one was in September 2013.

3. None.

4. Had hoped to attend 2 in the past few years but work managed to get in the way.

1. Exactly 4 a month.  Job, wife, son, and an unusually busy schedule for the last 8 years has kept me from playing as often as I would like, but Friday night at the FLGS is how I stay sane.

2. 3 (total, been playing for about 15 years)

3. Yes

5. 6 (total)

edited to ask: are you saying that you play in 9 tournaments a month, a year, or total?

I play at least 9 tournament games or 3 tournaments per month. Sometimes it is more, in October I played in 4 RTTs and one 5 game GT for a total of 17 tournament games for that month. My area has three local stores that host monthly tourneys and then one store does a quarterly event. I am the TO for a kids tournament once a month, as well. There are also 4 or 5 GTs within a 4 hour drive. I also manage to fit in life, work, raising a teenage son, and commission painting on the side. I did have to quit blogging due to time constraints, though. smile.png

Wow. I know this isn't that kind of website, but if you'd ever like to trade wives (just for a month) let me know... I wish mine let me play that often.

Edited just in case it wasn't obvious that I was joking. msn-wink.gif

No wife to deal with anymore. I can't think of many wives that would put up with my hobby schedule.smile.png

Man how do you find that kind of time? lol.

I live in Cleveland, maybe we just don't have that many tournaments in northeast Ohio, but I play in tournaments as a way to glut myself on gaming for a while, since its hard for me to get away as often as I would sometimes like to.

(The kid in my profile picture is now 7 and he loves Orks.)

My son plays, too. So, that is a big reason why we game so much. If he was interested in football or other sports, we would be dong that. It keeps him busy and it is safer and cheaper than Motocross(my son raced for a few years. Just wait until your little guy starts playing. You'll be able to squeeze more games in.

Man, I can't wait for my son to be old enough to play (6 years old at the moment).  I'm trying to raise him up right, steeped in the classics - I make sure that he watches the right cartoons (avengers, x-men, spiderman, etc), I read TMNT to him at night, and I let him play with the damaged space marines that I don't seem myself trying to repair.

Good man. Make sure he becomes a manly man. Not one of those gimps today's society produces ;)
