Techmarine in Land Raider rules question ....

Hail all,

I'm building a land raider either a crusader or redeemer, haven't decided on the sponsons yet .... but I am going with the multi-melta up top. if I put a techmarine behind that weapon manning it does that mean I have to take a techmarine in my army lineup?

And if I do, then what advantage does he bring (can repair on the go?)

Thanks.

The models that are a part of a vehicle don't mean anything, ruleswise (well, Orks have the option to add Grots for a points-cost, but that's a special case). Modeling a Techmarine as the gunner wouldn't give an advantage or disadvantage - it's purely cosmetic.

Taking a techmarine and adding him to the unit riding in the land raider isn't a bad idea assuming you have the points for it. Allows you to repair as you go, and when everyone gets out he can just stay in and keep it running. Useful if it gets immobilized. (He can repair from inside but this works better with a Land Raider Crusader due to extra room.)

Yeah you can model anything on there. You could literally model it with 10 Marines and small bunker on top, makes no difference. (other than making it extremely easy to see it for line of sight :-P) as someone else said, it's just for aesthetics.

But if you actually purchased a techmarine in your list, he could embark the vehicle.
