7th ed FAQ!

this faq changes my armies that included alpharius. i mainly play against 40k armies, so i use the CAD in the main rules to make an army, rather that the BitAoD force chart. before, id have a librarian and a master of signal as my HQs, since alpharius would be the one to grant master of the legion. now, i need to take something like a vigilator and either a librarian OR a master of signal.

this isnt a problem if im playing against other 30k armies, we'd just use the 30k force org chart. but against 40k, this is an issue, unless they let me use the 30k chart.

I actually hope that never happens.  I don't wish any ill to you or your ability to play, but I very much prefer 30k as a separate entity.  A blatant attempt to integrate it into regular 40k would be a huge mistake, in my opinion.

Instead, I will hope that you can find more Horus Heresy opponents and players, Hivey.  :tu:

im pretty much in the same boat as simison. there are 2 other 30k players around here, but i never get to play them due to my schedule. the only way id get to play against their 30k armies is if theyre allowed to use them in the tournies.

there are other people who are looking at getting into 30k, but it will be a good year or so until they have an army, or longer since at least one is waiting for thousand sons to get rules. even then, most of them i wouldnt be able to play against due to scheduling conflicts.

i have people i can play against with my legion, but playing against the same people, the same lists, over and over isnt exactly fun. hence me wishing to use it in the local shop events, so i can play against new people who i wouldnt normally get to face.

ive pointed that out. i did well in a 1500pts tournie with lords of war, people actually wanted me to bring my alpharius (i wasnt going to), so i did. he tore people apart, the rest of my list didnt do much at all. every game, he almost died. only reason he didnt die was because of being in a 20 strong tac blob with apothecary.

people claimed the whole army is OP, and the TO has started banning all LOWs, as well as 30k. the other 2 30k players there, a salamanders player and a mechanicum player, didnt do well at all.

without lords of war, especially primarchs, legion is actually fairly underpowered at 1500 and lower, which is what we play.

ive tried, he wont listen. he used the whole 'its not balanced for 40k in mind' crap. didnt listen when i pointed out 40k isnt balanced anyways.

Point out to him that if he's going to ban them, maybe he should check and see if the army WITHOUT the LOW is broken first. If he doesn't listen, point out that it's like banning Eldar for Wraithknights or Tau for Riptides

Been thinking about the Plasma Moritat. He eats up a Consul slot for many RoWs, Lone killer etc; with the new super overheat rule I'm wondering if a Plasma Support squad would be better. They score, can be buffed and don't eat a consul slot. I get that he needed to be toned down but I don't think it's his average performance that's to blame. It's that his attacks can technically never stop. I know it. I've rolled over 70 hits with Kaedes nex once form one Chain Fire. That's OTT even though I love Nex and Moritats in general. I think Chain Fire needed a reworking. Perhaps 3d6 shots? There's still the super over heat rule but the Moritat would still fire each shot. That would make him worth all the drawbacks over a Plasma tac support, IMHO anyway. It would keep him around the average number of shots from normal Chain Fire but with the added drawback of the overheat on a 1 and a 2 and get rid of the infinite nonsense. Otherwise the plasma support squad, which can fire consecutive turns, does more damage with fewer drawbacks and a lot more bonuses.

Upon more thinking: Even making it so the Chain Fire doesn't end on any Gets Hot! would have saved the Plasmatat from collecting dust.

ive tried, he wont listen. he used the whole 'its not balanced for 40k in mind' crap. didnt listen when i pointed out 40k isnt balanced anyways.

The problem is the certain items can be spammed with various rules added which makes things worrying for the 40k lot. To stay on topic to a degree terror squads, with the FAQ plus all armed with volkite, and still having bolt pistol and ccw and the potential for enforced night fight for 3 turns. Now for under 1000 you can get three of these squads and a praetor with points spare. 60 maybe 62 shots strength 5 with the new accuracy and deflagarate. Thats a lot of dead stuff. How many 40k armies can take 60 shots a turn with maybe not so much chance to retaliate. I can see why they say it can potentially be overpowered. The Emperor, however, brooks no cowardice ;)

Overpowered my arse. Only if they're stupid enough to let you put a Primarch on the field at 1k or something.

Eh, just tell them to play Transcendant C'Tan at 1K level and see how much fun it is then. Or to face a 4x Riptide Tau army.

@helterskelter that force looks ripe for anything AV12 to box up and gun you down.

Aye but there was still just over 500 points left to deal with that issue. A sicaran and melta/plasma armed night raptors deal with that potentially. My point being you can tailor a lot of death into one list. Potentially more so than 40k. Heck if you were sticking with volkite spam and still playing 1.5k you could add a heavy support squad with volkite (str 6 4 shots) 40 extra shots to glance your av12 to death with, thereby making it up to 102 dice rolled per turn. With the faq added accuracy on terror squads (gotta keep the post relevant ;)) and still have room left for a squad of jetbikes or attack bikes (mobile melta death). But again i still think if your playing vs a horde army/large numbers it levels the playing field. And theres only so many men big gribblies could kill a turn. And you still have to hope the NL guy doesnt force night fight for 3 turns (yes i'm bias using NL as an example but you can tailor any heresy list to blast stuff to death/get shreddy vs 40k depending on levels of evil that day)
