Brother Captain and Paladin box questions

Question 1: How do you guys usually build your brother captain? I've been thinking Soul Glaive and Psycannon, also been considering the Psilencer to enhance the effectiveness of the Soul Glaive.

Question 2: Have any of you ordered a paladin box set lately and had it come with only 1 psycannon? I was planning on using them for terminators and putting the extra on my Brother Captian but it only came with 1 when the GW site clearly states that it should have 2.

You have right! the sprue only have 1 psycannon

as you can see in the site picture.

I think, if you bought  this box, then you have to speak with your local store and ask for the "lost" piece.

I upgrade him to a Grand Master, and give him a hammer and psycannon. Sometimes the Cuirass of Sacrifice as well, if points allow.

Paladins are bad, don't do that. GW routinely don't supply enough wargear and weapon options in their boxed sets. That's why I usually order online outside of their web store. Oz prices for 40k are...depressing.

I wasn't actually gonna make paladins, I was gonna make terminators and use the extra psycannon on my brother captain model.... but it didnt come with the extra one like it says on the website.

Yeah GW are notorious for it dude. Just order it from a bitz store, eBay etc. There are usually dirt-cheap ones you can find.

I don't think they actually advertise two psycannon though?

"This multi-part plastic boxed set contains 153 components and five 40mm round bases with which to make either a Grey Knight Paladin Squad or Grey Knight Terminator Squad. There is an array of weaponry and unit upgrades including Nemesis falchions, Nemesis force halberds, a Nemesis Daemon hammer, a Nemesis warding stave, two psycannons, a psilencer and an incinerator."

Grand master always with psycan. I've found master crafting it worthwhile if pts allow. I've had mixed experiences with the glaive mostly because people don't like engaging him and he can't catch fast opponents. I think my favorite build is the above kit plus twin falchions and liber daemonica. That extra roll means he will end up with either the ranged powers or gate nearly every game and all fit my game plan.

Nice choices...  Falchions gives him an extra attack, and liber daemonica gives him a great possibility to take sanctuary or gate!. in this case, an Incinerator would be nice.

Nah because incinerator wastes his BS5, and we already have ample anti-infantry. A shooty HQ that can kill vehicles is very handy, plus he's still handing out psychic buffs and is a combat monster.

Well i think you're right... welll back to my Grand Master configuration, Soul Glaive + Psilencer.

How about soul glaive/psycannon GM with a squad of paladins built 1x apothecary with falchions, 1x banner with stormbolter, 1x hammer with stormbolter, 2x falchions with psilencers. Use the psycannon/hammer for anti-tank while the soul glaive helps make sure you get force up for both melee weapons and psilencers and the apothecary helps keep people alive.

I finally took the gat for a spin last week for a series of games. It was fantastic. Obviously you need to consider your meta.. as stated above if you only face mech, wraithknights and single wound models then maybe leave it home. I personally found it excellent against a wide variety of targets including wraiths, TWC and fnp boyz, and exceptional against the whole daemons army and spawn units. Haven't got to test it on nids or tau yet. It was also very good on overwatch. That said if you mostly face marines then its gonna be lackluster. Its a xenos killer pure and simple.

GMC- I'm also getting ready to rock a paladin unit but not 10 strong. I actually want the unit for its smaller footprint and nemesis banner. Dirty dirty unit vs daemons, which just happens to be one of the few armies I see here that can beat me in assault.

Anything a Paladin squad does, a DK can do better and cheaper. It's sad, but its literally how the rules work :(

I'm gonna try out the gatling psilencer over incinerators (I always take heavy psycannon on DK's, and you should too). Multi-wound is a pain to kill at range, and they will fail saves eventually. Denying FNP is also a big deal, people forget that.
