Okay, so I was wondering...

Recommended Posts

Whilst creating a new concept for my Chapter Honour Guard, I came across an interesting idea: A laurel atop the helm, just above the "feathered" plate covering the front.

Problem is, I can't seem to remember if the laurel is a rank-specific add-on, and what rank it's used for.

Simply put: Is the laurel okay to use on the Honour Guard?

Depends on how close you follow the Codex Astartes, I'd say ignore the bit about the Banner bearer. The 2nd ed codex I got this from also said the Iron Halo is painted on to the armour of the people awarded it (all ranks), now its something characters wear.

It says a standard bearer must have earned the laurel, but that doesn't mean every guy with a laurel will have a standard. I wouldn't be surprised to see several vets with this and probably all of your HQ's, honor guard, etc... List of honor badges.

Ah, okay. I take it this means if I use the laurels I also have to place the Company Standards on them as well

No, it doesn’t. “All As are also B” is not the same as “All Bs are also A” — in this case: “All company standard bearers are also laurel-wearers” doesn’t equal “All laurel-wearers are also company standard bearers”.

Wellllll, because I'm a MAgic: The Gathering player, yes "All A's are also B" and "All B's are Also A's" is exactly the same thing (if you play a Slivers deck, you know exactly why I say that.). And I already said I was going to leave the Standards to the Chaplains, so that makes anything regarding that to be inert.

Concerning Slipstreams' photograh, no, that's not the helm I was thinking of. I mean the classic feathered faceplate kind of design, like seen here: https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8353/8443060860_7e4e5b2310_z.jpg

The laurel would be positioned above mentioned faceplate, the Halo is already on the top centre of the power pack.

Sorry, I don’t — the last time I played Magic was in … 2005? Probably. I think. And even then I mightily annoyed most of the players in the small group I was with because I had to read each and every card played that wasn’t a land to see what it did because it had been several years since my previously-last game smile.png

I don’t read a whole thread before replying smile.png
