daemonclaw
and still more great ravens . very nice work guys now i give you Bran "the bolter magnet" Kaelesh the lone survivor of two assault squad detachments earning him the "jonah" tag and the loss of faith with his battle brothers who saw him as an unlucky omen. it was deemed prudent to move him to the reconnaissance position as an infiltrator with which he showed great ability until his mysterious disappearance during an engagement into planetary corruption and tithe dodging http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN0840_zpsa3bfd9d8.jpghttp://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN0842_zpsb0fae8ef.jpghttp://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN0846_zpsaa6f111d.jpghttp://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN0845_zpsc47daa15.jpghttp://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN0843_zps1e888cc9.jpghttp://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/daemonclaw/DSCN0847_zps6e7ffed6.jpg cheers DC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299909-march-of-the-legions-xix-legion/page/7/#findComment-3890859 Share on other sites

Phalanx Warder
Okay guys here is my fluff, be easy on me. I am no writer. That said please feel free to provide pointers and critique! The drop pod was released and fell in total silence, on the inside the passengers felt the neutral gravity for a moment before the thrusters kicked in sending the ceramite death blossom to the planet below. Below awaited something that should be impossible, unimaginable but against all odds there it was. Traitors, oath breakers and soon to be dead men. Legionary Rikor could feel the throbbing of his twin hearts pumping as he fought to live. Behind him the ungall depression rocked with the mass explosions that only the violence a multi legion assault could produce, the depression now served as his Legions grave site. Through the smoke and data squabble of his helms display lay more enemy but also the chance of escape. Rikor did not like to run from a fight however one did not simply disobey the orders of lord Corax. He had been fortunate that his squad had been perched on the lip of the depression overlooking the expanse of the battlefield below providing accurate reports of troop movements and the traitor order of battle to legion command. Rikor had even shot a traitor Sergeant in the helm well beyond the max effective range of his accurized sniper variation of the standard issue bolter, it wasn't a clean kill the mass reactive had snapped the Death Guards neck after it had detonated, a traitor Legionnaire had looked down on the stricken Sergeant and simply brought his knee up to his chest and stomped down to finish the job that the Raven Guard Marksman had started. That shot that taken place 55 minutes ago and even with all of the emperors gifts bestowed upon him it may as well have been a lifetime ago. Rikor had insisted on providing rear guard for the 30 or so Raven Guard that had gathered over the last 20 minutes of retreat, the traitors were ever so close behind and the chances of escape dwindled with each passing moment. Planting his heals in the scorched earth of Istvan V, Rikor readied his weapons for the last fight of his life. Sitting in the fire direction control center of the 35th Grand Battalion of the IV legion Centurion Satel listened to the fires Vox channel of the 35th, to the fleeting reports of Loyalists elements as the Warmasters forces brought them to heel. Around him his officers executed fires on likely avenues of retreat and terrain denial fires to funnel survivors into these pre-planned kill zones. It was a process that had been repeated countless times throughout the Great Crusade and Satel could perform these duties without thought, as Iron Warriors reported a pattern was emerging that was invisible to all but him. In his minds eye he was playing out the events as they unfolded. The shear volume of raw data would quickly outstrip a humans ability to see the problem, it was clear to him that every time a report was logged in the vicinity of GAMMA ALPHA BETA 44920 78210 they would cease and that the Astartes that had made the log would simply not report again. Since he had picked up on this a total of 6 Astartes had been logged in that vicinity they had all fallen silent. The possibilities had played out in his head and he had arrived at a conclusion. Corax, it had to be the Raven Lord. Rikor slammed a new magazine into the receiver of his bolter, it was his last. He had bought 8 minutes for his brothers, it would have to be enough. Rikor scanned his immediate surroundings and sprung from his makeshift hide. Using what shadows he could he began to make good on his escape, he had made it 20 paces when he froze. The sound of artillery rounds carving a path through the sky is one you instinctively know. The sound of Medusa rounds tearing through the atmosphere is something else. it can only spell doom.... StruManChu
Once again, I mind myself blown away by the talent of my brother Legionaires. Which is annoying, because my entry this month is not my best work... Just found it difficult to get in the XIX, I must admit. Anyway... Onwards! In the moment when the full magnitude of Horus' betrayal was revealed on the black sands of Isstvan V, Vahlus Zekk, son of Deliverance, took to the skies for the last time. As his brothers were cut down by the massed ranks of the Night Lords and Word Bearers, Zekk and his cohort of Dark Furies fired their jump packs with a mere sub-vocal click from their Chooser of the Slain. As they soared through the skies above the carnage unfolding beneath them, the Chooser's quickly gave his orders. They were going after the weak points in the traitor's air support. Normally operating alongside their Legion's own aircraft, they knew where to find exposed fuel lines and vulnerable electrical systems. If all else failed, they could crash through the cockpit and kill the pilot. Attempting any of it was likely suicide, but it could buy their brothers time for their brothers on the ground to regroup and maybe survive the hour, if not the day. Victory or death, then... The squad broke formation, nods and vox-clicks of acknowledgement passed between each of them by way of what would surely be their last words. The skies above the Urgall Depression were swarming with possible targets. An Iron Warriors Stormbird came into view in front of Zekk's flightpath, a dirty streak hanging low in the air, fat with his traitorous kin. He knew that the loss of that Stormbird would be nothing more than a drop in the ocean of blood poured out in the plains, but if he could kill the bird, maybe an entire Centuria of Iron Warriors would die. It was worth it, whatever it took. Desperation and pragmatism create surprising results. Less than 30 seconds after he left the ground, Zekk managed to land on the Stormbird by jamming his remaining talon into a sensor relay on the craft's spine. Magnetising his boots, he fired his jump pack against the inertia threatening to hurl him from the back of the Stormbird and began to move toward a nearby intake turbine, feeling each lurch and dip of the craft’s flight with every urgent step. Hurling a pair of krak grenades into the turbine, Zekk braced himself for their detonation. Inside the Stormbird, legionnaires of the IVth readied themselves for to make murder on their kin. In truth, Perturabo’s sons were never far from violence, but the coming battle was unprecedented. On the surface so close below them, close to 10 full Legions made war. The air was electric with anticipation, and they roared to join the fight. Only one of them would see it. Zekk’s grenades were not enough to destroy the Stormbird outright, and nor had he thought they would be. Instead, the destruction of the intake turbine and the systems surrounding it would cripple the bird and force it into an uncontrolled dive into the plains below. The pilot was flying so less than 500 metres above the surface, and would have no time to recover. The Stormbird would crash nose first into the Iron Warrior’s lines and, its internal structure already weakened by the Krak grenades, its promethium reserves would ignite and explode, killing all of those on board. If already adorned in his power armour, a Space Marine in a combat situation should take no more than 8 seconds to don a jump pack, and up to a further 10 seconds, depending on their location, to evacuate a stricken aircraft. Balcus Goliaar of the Iron Warriors managed to accomplish these tasks in under 7, simply by reversing their order. Leaping from his seat an instant after he’d heard the detonation, he’d hit the door release, snatched a jump pack from a brother still wrestling with restraints, and leapt from the Stormbird. He ignited the jump pack mere metres above the ground, levelling off and and twisting up and around to watch the Stormbird he’d disembarked from second before punch its way into the crust of Isstvan V. His lens display was full of the black runes of the dead members of his Centuria. And a single enemy, borne away from the crash site on a jump pack. Even as secondary detonations and explosions took the Stormbird and those trapped within it beyond the veil, Goliaar boosted his jump pack to full power in pursuit of his brother’s murderer. With flakk fire covering the sky, Zekk barely caught sight the Iron Warrior before he was on him. A plasma bolt grazed over his shoulder guard, blinding him for a second. A second was enough. Goliaar dove into him, connecting into the Raven Guard with a dropped shoulder. Shrieking, Zekk barrel-rolled and swung blindly with his lightning talon, missing the Iron Warrior by a hair’s breadth. The Iron Warrior reacted quickly, sending shot after shot from his pistols into Zekk’s jump pack. It burst into flames, covering the Raven Guard in fire, and sending him plummeting toward the ground. Goliaar simply watched him fall. If the impact didn’t kill him, there was enough death on Isstvan V to be sure that something would eventually. Slips
FINISHED MAH MOR DEYTHAN! Pretty happy with how he turned out. Depicted Here is Veteran Sergeant Chaals, of the Mor Deythan Elite of the Raven Guard Legion. The above Pict Captures were taken 300 hours into the Dropsite Massacre, recovered from vid and pict feeds from fellow legionaries. Originally having been issued prototype Mk VI (now known as Corvus) pattern Power Armor, the intensity of the fighting and scarcity of resources meant that Sergeant Chaals had to replace broken armor by scavenging from among the dead. During the fighting, he came into possession of yet-functional Nuncio-Vox equipment from a fellow fallen marine, using it to better coordinate with other Legionnaires and Central Command during scouting, sabotage and assassination missions during their guerrilla conflicts with the Traitor forces in the later hours of the Dropsite Massacre. Seen here, Brother Chaals is equipped with one of the few remaining Combi-Weapons - this one being a Melta weapon - owing to his station within the legion and the types of missions he was to undergo. Other Items of note are his Helmet and Backpack - being aformentioned Nuncio-Vox Gear, Climbing Rope, Standard Issue Krak and Frag grenades and a standard issue Monomolecular Combat Blade; having had to abandon his own personal Power Sword at some point during the Conflict. Due to the vagaries and conflicting nature of debriefing reports, the current status and potential whereabouts of Sergeant Chaals is currently Unknown. Well, thats one down. I may of may not be able to complete my Dark Fury; depends on how things go since I'm going abroad for Christmas to see some family and am leaving on the 19th. Oh well, I usually do well with looming deadlines so we'll see! Hopefully if I do fail to complete the Fury I don't get penalized :P I want that Pip! Slips
Thank! Thing is, only his helm and backpack is Mk II. Legs are (luckily) Mk VI from the Devestator Box and the chest is Plastic Mk VI. Arms are Mk III and shoulders are Mk VII that can easily pass for Mk IV. All in all it worked out pretty well with making an Ad-hoc looking marine who just took whatever they had available to still be effective. Pretty glad I held onto those kneeling Devestator legs.
