SonofTitan117
I don't see my statement as false, especially if the Knight moves in for the kill in close combat. On your point of the one shot attempted kill I definitely agree that it is a gamble but, isn't that how battle is supposed to work? Reclusiarch Darius
This forum never fails to mystify me. AV11 is better than AV14, AP3 is better than AP1, and PA beats TDA. With advance like that, no wonder people lol at us. What are you on about? AV11 is terrible, that's why its shunned by every army saddled with it. AV14 is great until people put multiple S10 or melta/lance etc into you. Which is common as muck. AP3 isn't better than AP1, its just more plentiful, and it will chip wounds off most MC's and ignore most infantry saves. PA doesn't beat TDA, its increasingly the case no one wants to take PA models (because they get removed before they can do anything, thanks to broken xenos armies in the meta). I fail to see how anyone has been advocating what you say. Nice strawman. I don't see my statement as false, especially if the Knight moves in for the kill in close combat. On your point of the one shot attempted kill I definitely agree that it is a gamble but, isn't that how battle is supposed to work? No. 40k lives and dies by mathematics. It's sometimes difficult to see that, but its the truth. Probability is a hugedeal, and its not always easy to calculate either. If I want to destroy a unit, I'd rather do something that has a statistically high chance of success, rather than a medicore or uselessly low one. Knight-Titans are incredibly frustrating to fight, as you have to kill them or they will roll over anything not able to fight it. One melta isn't a plan, 3 melta's is getting there....I'd dedicate 2 or 3 such anti-tank units to it, as you need to get around that ion shield as well (ie hit it from two flanks with pods or Deepstrikers). For Knights, our options are pretty much just Dreadknights (as we'll trade, because even with 'Sanctuary' the reaper chainsword will kill him). On the plus side, you are trading very well (our 200pt or so MC taking down a 375pt walker), but its annoying to lose our powerhouse just to take out their Ally. It's why I'm running 4x DK in my lists these days, as insurance. Ishagu
I think Dreadknights are very good and fill a similar role to Imperial Knights... I'd ally in Imperial Guard or something for powerful vehicles and flyers... Reclusiarch Darius
Yeah IG bring long-range firepower that we lack, they're a pretty solid Ally choice. I'm still tinkering with how that would look. Combined Infantry blobs with lots of autocannon or lascannon is my current thinking, you get manz and firepower and they make very efficient use of 'Prescience' or Orders buffing them. Everon
Took forever but was able to get a game in with the new knights so reporting as I said I would. The game was against blood angels in planet strike, opponent massed melta everything. The acheron didnt make it past turn 2 but bbqed a veteran squad and two assault squads. The castigator killed the furioso dread, a10man death company, the assault squad with artificer armour, and another sassualt squad while making a raven jink for its life. Castigator lasted the longest and made its points back for sure. Zeratul29
Nice Report Everon! For some reason I feel the Castigator is underrated and I see the Acheron would be a valuable asset to us as a hellstorm ap 3 flamer would be great anti horde.
