Firepower
Come to think of it, I didn't know they had a pre unification scheme. Got a pic?

Sigismund's Ghost
I like it, it's very true to the artwork. The only suggestion I have is that the device covering his ear would look better with a metalic finish/highlight.

hushrong
Nice additions, bud! How are you doing your black? Is it dark greys with washes?
jeremy1391
Prime black Then coat with Vallejo grey-black, Nuln oil wash, highlights with mechanicus standard grey, extreme highlights with administratum grey.
hushrong
Thank you! I've got two armies of marines who use a lot of black and I think I want to go the same route as you. Thanks again, bud!
Samnite
Impressed. I just tried using undercoat/Chaos Black (old school)/nuln oil/Dawnstone highlights, but I don't think it's got results as good as yours here. I recognise the Anvil Industries as well ;)

Firepower
Hm. I know they're Raven Guard, but a splash of color somewhere couldn't hurt. I can't imagine they look like much of anything but black blobs from a distance, especially with the subtler tones of your drybrushing/highlights. I don't know spit about the Guard pre-Corax (and not much post Corax either, really) but did hey at least have squad/company/legion markings of some sort? jeremy1391
I was thinking a little some thing would make them stand out more, like a pad trim or something... They do fit the bill of sneaky sneaky marines though lol.
jeremy1391
Maybe I could go with white face plates on the vets helmets?

Firepower
It certainly looks a bit better. When it comes to black marines though, I find the best spot to throw color is typically on the shoudlers. Those shapes are huge, you can see them from practically any angle, and they frame the shape rather than sitting in the center of one side or another. Something as simple as a white trim on the shoulders could potentially go a long way. Squad/company/legion marks on the shoulders would help some too, but if you had to choose one or the other the trim would have more effect. jeremy1391
I may just go with a harder highlight on the shoulders kinda like I did with my vigilator and moritat.

jeremy1391
Ah gotcha, haven't been there. The meta at dragons lair is tough, but they have monthly tournaments so I get over there when I can.
