Lord Kallozar
Just curious to know if anyone is actually using the Glottkin model as a counts as great unclean one? Does it work as a counts as GUO? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299995-glottkin-as-a-guo/ Share on other sites
henrywalker
I've used it as a summoned GUO once or twice if i didn't have my regular GUO available. It is a bit too big really though. Mine sits on the oval base from the LOTR oliphont model. I normally run it with a home grown set of rules that put it on par with a knight titan. If you don't mind the large base size and the height and your opponent doesn't mind then there is no really problem with it, you just might find deep striking and moving through terrain are more dangerous/difficult Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299995-glottkin-as-a-guo/#findComment-3878729 Share on other sites
Lord Kallozar
cheers for the ultra quick response. Is it really THAT big then? how big is it compared to the forgeworld GUO, because that model is pretty huge. henrywalker
I have both standing on my desk at home. Glottkin is bigger. scabiethrax (FW) is more a squat lump. still pretty big though. Scabiethrax would fit on the flyer oval base with almost no room around the edges. Glottkin could have gone on the flyer oval but his feet would have been going off the edges. Glottkin is also an inch or two taller I'll do a comparison shot when i get home for you along with some other models for scale Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299995-glottkin-as-a-guo/#findComment-3878733 Share on other sites
Majorbookworm
Could he be used as a Nurgle-y Knight? Or would he be too short? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299995-glottkin-as-a-guo/#findComment-3878836 Share on other sites
henrywalker
he is just right for a nurgly knight which is why i based my home grown rules on a knight kinda sortaRULES: My annoyance with scabiethrax and the other big nurgly beasties is that they often are excellent at killing squishy infantry but almost defenceless against vehicles. I've had scabiethrax die in combat to an imperial knight 3 times without ever doing any damage back. Because of that i've aimed to make this guy fairly equivalent to an imperial knight at around the same sort of points value. I've tried to be inspired by the model and not gratuitously give him rules that don't make sense. Oh and this is just rules for the big monstery one, i'll deal with the other two later. Ghurk - Points 400 Gargantuan CreatureCounts as open topped vehicle with transport capacity 2 (same as Gargantuan Ork Squiggoth) Ws Bs S T W I A Ld Sv4 2 7 8 6 3 4 8 - Special Rules: Mark of Nurgle, Feel no Pain, It Will Not Die, Fear, Fearless. Swarm of Flies - thick clouds of flies swarm around Ghurk, making friends harder to hit and flying in the faces of enemies. Any model within 2" of Ghurk with the mark of Nurgle gets shrouded. Any model within 2" of Ghurk without the mark of Nurgle suffers blind. Acerbic Spew - Ghurk's vomit corrupts and dissolves all it touches and he sprays it across the battlefield, melting armour and fleshRange S AP TypeHelstorm 5 3 Poison 2+, Acid* Lashing Tentacle - Range S AP Type- 6 - Melee, Sweep,** Poison 2+ Grinding Maw - Range S AP Type- D 1 Melee, Halve attacks (i.e. 2 attacks) *Acid - Wounds caused by attacks with this special rule have Armourbane. Additionally, successful armour saves made against these wounds must be rerolled **Sweep - when using this weapon ignore Ghurk's attack characteristic. He instead attacks every model in base contact once (friendly or enemy) And here is a random bit of fluff that popped into my head, might give the flavour of the sort of unit i want to portray The Corpse Emperor’s knight had wounded Ghurk. He delighted in the foul oozings running from the fresh wound, already being lapped up by eager nurglings. He would thank the knight for the wound, he would show him the sweet release of Nurgle’s gifts. A second battle cannon shell shattered one of Ghurk's horns before he closed with the knight. The knight’s Vox unit grated with a battlecry as it swung its huge chainsword at Ghurk’s neck. It was pulled from its mark as Ghurk’s thick, tentacled arm wound around the blade of the weapon. The spinning teeth bit deeply but were quickly dulled by the malevolent acids coursing through his body. Smiling at this fresh wound Ghurk raised his right arm toward the knight, giggling as the human inside desperately tried to yank his machine free from the vice like grip. The maw that comprised Ghurk’s right arm slowly closed about the knights face plate, blackened teeth scraping over metal. The din of the surrounding battle was drowned out by a sickening, crunching sound as the knight convulsed and then sagged backwards. Ghurk let it fall, the tattered remains of the faceplate coming away to reveal an unidentifiable mess of corroded metal and flesh within. A great groan rose from the lips of the Corpse Emperor’s soldiers seeing their champion fall. Ghurk smiled, he cared not for them, soon they too would fall to the plague and all of this world would know nurgle’s loving embrace. Giggling again Ghurk set off after a tiny commissar, he hoped it would run, he loved it when they tried to run. Lord Kallozar
cheers for the picture comparisons. the glottkin really is one huge beastie of a model, didn't realise his size!! the rules seem pretty cool for your Ghurk character, great little piece of fluff too :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299995-glottkin-as-a-guo/#findComment-3879050 Share on other sites
hopkins
Maggoth Lord would make a sweet Maulerfiend, if you use the one with tentacles coming out the mouth Swap the rider for a Warpsmith and it would look great in a Nurgle-themed army Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299995-glottkin-as-a-guo/#findComment-3879110 Share on other sites
Slave to Darkness
It's gonna be fun running two GUO's when get my Glottkin, as my other GUO is the RoC era one, who is shorter than a Terminator. I'll call him my Slightly Unclean One now. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299995-glottkin-as-a-guo/#findComment-3879250 Share on other sites
Daemon2027
I'm thinking of combining the knight kit with the Glotkin to make a possessed knight, mand the maggots lord with a Contemptor. This is all in theory, have yet to really pan it out so may not work. henrywalker
I'm not so sure the glottkin would easily lend itself to that. it is a weird model. It was designed by some software so they uploaded the full sculpt to it and the software broke it up into pieces that would fit most efficiently on the sprue. that means the torso is made up of really oddly shaped pieces. It could possible but it would definitely be difficult. What might work is to have the glottkin sort of outfitted with knight stuff. Like they chopped off his arm to stick a gun on instead and stuff. that way you wouldn't have to mess with the basic structure of the torso which is the difficult bit. Chaeron
Definitely bigger - but equally cool. Totally roll with that. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299995-glottkin-as-a-guo/#findComment-3879348 Share on other sites
