Birch seed leaves - I swear I've seen them coloured?

Ok so, using birch seeds (or rather their catkin casings) as autumn leaves is a popular basing trick. I had a huge pot full of the things myself, they're great. There's only so much colour variation you can get out of them, though, and I could swear I've seen them for sale dyed or coloured in some other fashion - I just can't remember where.

I know green variations exist and I definitely didn't hallucinate those; people have used them to make ivy and creepers and the like. I'm sure there are coloured autumn variations out there as well, though. Has anyone seen these? Know where I might find any?

I know what you are talking about, but I can't give you a brand name either.

However if you already have the seeds, I remember reading an article by a guy who showed how he tinted them himself. Basically he just put some drops of acrylic paint and water into a plastic container with a marble and the seeds and then shook it until the seeds were colored.

Haven't tried that myself yet, as I haven't gotten around to do any basing with the birch tree seeds I have kicking around here myself, but it sounds easy enough to try. Worst case scenario is that some of the seeds are not quite as evenly colored in paint as you'd like.
