tylerw
Yea I always ponder that but for me, I don't have many of the tools yet either so hopefully Santa will be good to me this year haha. I'd defiantly drill the gun barrels but I've never really bothered much about mould lines. Might sort them with these though as I want this to be a decent looking army. (if I have it in my capability to do a decent looking army haha) Mould lines are easier to clean up before you put the models together - then you can pack in a touch of green stuff as needed when you assemble them, if there is still a crack/line showing. A small handdrill is under $10 on amazon, just FYI. They aren't a terribly expensive item compared to some (although that's also obviously $10 that doesn't go towards figures). Yoyo ninja
Mold lines are easy, I use a stanly knife to scrap them off. You can get the 'proper' tool from GW though for a 10er, it stops you slicing your fingers up.haha. Yoyo ninja
I struggle with that too, I love having finished models, but I find painting them harder if they are in one piece too, so I tend to clean them all up and paint them in different pieces. For marines I tend to glue the two halves of the torso together, clean up the mould lines off, then attach that to the legs (with the line cleaned off) and paint that, the arms, and the head all separately before glueing the marine together. It takes a bit longer but I prefer the out come. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300128-creating-my-army/page/3/#findComment-3886838 Share on other sites
Amarog
Yea i did consider that. I think i'll see how i go with what i have now once i get my new paints and then if i struggle i'll do them in pieces much like you said. I can see the benefits definitely. benane
With marines (especially the ones with the gun in bith hands) i struggle to find the right technique to paint them. Painting all the parts seperately takes too long, leaving only the gun off makes assembling the arms a pain in the butt. Maybe assembling both arms with gun and shoulder plates is the way to go. I'm still trying to figure out the best way lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300128-creating-my-army/page/3/#findComment-3886891 Share on other sites

The pack. then paint the arms and bolter seperate and stick them on then the pads? .... it is a pain when you look at it like that lol. but i suppose if you are able to take your time and stuff it makes it easier to stay focused on that smaller individual part. Yoyo ninja
I usually get a pencil or something, all of one thing to it with bluetac. Then paint it all in one go, it's not very exciting, but it keeps everything consistent and makes things a bit quicker. Amarog
OK so I now have my new paints etc to get started on my new wolves army. Hooray! I also bought a can of the fang spray base paint (which is shown on the headless guy). Both models undercoated chaos black. Then the fang spray. The bike I've gone over with Russ grey but I don't know if I like them lighter or darker. Very early stages by the way, actually going to try my hardest not to suck at painting these lol. What do you think? Obviously if I went with the darker I would work on highlights and shading etc. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f160/lelltomgeorge/Mobile%20Uploads/FB_IMG_1418739137639_zpsglkophk7.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300128-creating-my-army/page/3/#findComment-3891784 Share on other sites

Nadir
I like it. But i think, that uou need a little more colours. For example: paint the saddle red or brown, helmet grill and antena metal, the skull on the backpack gold. It is good now. But little too subtele and monochromatic. Still I like it:) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300128-creating-my-army/page/3/#findComment-3893472 Share on other sites
