Frater Cornelius
I mean 130€ is a bit steep for a dex, painting guide and some pictures. When you come down to it, you are shelling out 65€ for custom looks and a few images. At least Orks and Wolves has objective markers and other extra bits that made it worthwhile. But this seems much like window-dressing. Does anyone there see any hidden value that escapes me? simison
If someone did, I'd like to know as well. Either way, we'll have an answer soon. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300153-collectors-edition/#findComment-3882960 Share on other sites
Shaezus
I was assuming it comes with the extra goodies - cards, markers etc. If not well....that's just lame...guess we will see. Charlo
I've dared and slammed the £100 down for it. I really hope it is worth it, as it really equates to about £50 for prints and look. skyst
I was fully prepared to get it, having played Blood Angels for over 15 years but couldn't justify the cost when I read through the contents on the website. It's just a huge waste of money and is blatantly gouging their most loyal customers without providing any real value. Those art prints better be freakin amazing! Praefectus Invictus
I was going to for christmas, but then I just got the regular dex and datacards after seeing the stuff it comes with. Frater Cornelius
My advice, do not buy it. Show GW that we want the CE that actually give worthwhile extras. Praefectus Invictus
I only ordered the regular dex and datacards, and still it is sold out in Australia anyway. sockwithaticket
I barely see the value for money we get with regular codices so the limited editions always seem preposterously priced; ours even more so when you consider it seems to come with significantly less than those that came before it. Kol Saresk
I just want the artwork, but half of that is in the White Dwarf, which I got digitally so I'm already halfway satisfied and no longer see the need to purchase it. *compulsive eye twitching* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300153-collectors-edition/#findComment-3883511 Share on other sites
girot
Though I want it pretty badly I just can't justify the expense for what's being offered. Actually I'd love to start using the digital codexes but I'd have to upgrade my iPad first, lol. I wonder if they will release the "small format" version along with the normal sized version? The Red Thirst
$190 aus for pretty paper and painting guide... you all know my answerAnd as DG101 stated above, sold out in Oz, must have only had 100 of them set aside down under hahaFluff is my 40k god and its not in me to pay more than double for the same information as the standard dex... besides those chapter posters will be on the net within a few weeks anyway... girot
The collector in me wants the painting guide but I don't use GW paints anymore and I run a custom successor chapter so there really isn't anything in that book I can use. It is damn attractive though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300153-collectors-edition/#findComment-3883581 Share on other sites
Kol Saresk
You can get the painting guide by itself. Heck, it'd be significantly cheaper to get just the codex and the painting guide. The only thing you'd miss out on is the unique cover art and the prints. Frater Cornelius
Why they do not make the same thing as with SW is a mystery to me. I spend fapping over it for weeks and I am still happy to have shelled out 160€ for the sentimental value alone. Charlo
When I get the book I'm going to carefully look if it is worth it and then if not will sell it on and buy a normal Codex. the painting guide probably won't be of much use as I run a custom successor. I say this but Ill probably get the book, squee very loudly then rip it open in anticipation and not regret a thing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300153-collectors-edition/#findComment-3884349 Share on other sites
Frater Cornelius
You know you can return it, right? There is a two week refund possibility. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300153-collectors-edition/#findComment-3884620 Share on other sites
Xenith
If it had been codex + datacards + supplement + paint guide + prints, then I would have been all over it As it is, Codex + paint book + prints doesnt justify the cost. Bat33.1
The DE and SW painting guides both had significant amounts of fluff in them along with the painting guides and seem pretty good value by Geedub standards but I don't see the sense in the Ltd. edition with paint guide plus prints. The wolves one or orks with a supplement and tokens? Yes I'd buy one of those if it was my army as they were not much extra over the stock book price but the Ltd. plus paint guides? Not so much as they work out twice the price for very little extra. A gaming buddy bought the Ltd. Glottkin book as the HB's had all gone and it was a pitiful difference for the extra cost sadly.
