Militarum Tempestus Allies ?

Greetings, Brothers ! 

 

I've been thinking about adding some allies to my army for quite some time now, mostly for fun/fluff and having something else to paint. 

 

I'm mostly a fluffy player, but if i want to invest in models, making them a least a bit useful is a big plus ! So i thought about Grey knights, but i play deathraven, so more terminators seems a bit overkill. And Inquisition doesnt play well with unforgiven :D 

 

Next was blood angels to have a full assault marines themed army, and then i saw the new codex removing the option from the troops ... More tacticals ? nope thanks. 

 

FLuff wise and in terme of efficiency, Astra Militarum seemed like the obvious choice, but blobs of guardsmen scare me, and i'm not too much into the models either. 

 

Then i thought about the MT, and i fell in love with the models. It keep the "specialist force" feel of the deathraven style DA, and maybe they could support a DWA nicely ? Deepstriking everything and having some AP3 lasguns seems like a nice idea. 

It does help witht he anti-air as well with the Valkiry and the Vendetta. 

 

But then again, i don't want to invest in useless models, maybe they would be more usefull with greenwing or Ravenwing ? 

 

What are your thoughts on the question ?

If I take Terminators with my Ravenwing I can't afford anything else, if I take a Land Raider ditto

 

To get a decent allied force you need a fair few points and then you've got to find them a role

 

A mech army is an ideal support place for a Ravenwing command squad with Librarian + maybe some Ravenwing Knights and when I double up with my mate I take the mobile approach and he does the gun line stuff

 

Issue with using a mech or shooty force with Terminators is not enough points dedicated to in your face support which means you have to raider them which means nearly 600 points in 1 place.

 

My current allies of Choice with the Ravenwing are Legion of the Damned 155 per squad of 5 melta , multi melta & combi melta you can take 4 squads if you want.

 

Some AV14 Tanks allied with Ravenwing would be good and as you say Vendetta's are a nice flyer, I like Guard fluff wise and as a 2nd force it may well suit you to build it as stand alone, get it working then put in your DA units to pimp it up.

 

Not so sure it would work the other way round with the DA as the main force with Guard allies but 50/50 split would put some decent forces on the table but your Double Cad then
