march10k
the troops look great! The bases do, too...but the color schemes are a bit too similar for my tastes...in the real world, it's great for a camo scheme to melt into the landscape, but in art? And this is art, high art! I'd prefer a little more contrast. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300256-44th-elysian-drop-troops-wip/page/2/#findComment-3969434 Share on other sites
Simon Ros
Beautiful models! Well done! I especially like the lenses/googles. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300256-44th-elysian-drop-troops-wip/page/2/#findComment-3969436 Share on other sites
Orsah
Not much action for some time. but i started painting a few days ago and i finished these two models. http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/ae144/johha004/IMG_1724_zpssewov8pr.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/ae144/johha004/IMG_1723_zps2zrv5g6x.jpg Im happy with them, and i have decided not to do any more snow on the bases. the two previous models will be rebased without snow. i think it became to white and takes away too much of the feeling in the models. WarriorFish
They look great, excellent detail on the fabric and armour :tu: If you still want to keep the snow what about only using a little in recesses and such, as if the snow has mostly melted? Carraigf
These look awesome, loving the colour scheme and as pretty much everyone had said the lenses are stellar! How big a force are you planning? Should we expect some buggies and drop sentinels in the future? Orsah
Thanks! im planning at least 1750pts of elysians so there will be sentinels, buggies and planes in the future. i actually have a drop sentinel and a valkyrie assembled and i will get to work on them as soon as im finished with the infantry squad. our_baz
Love the work. For the bases, have you gone for a adeptus battle grey base, followed by a agrax wash, then drybrushed lighter grey shades over? Or something different? Looking to do something similar and fishing for ideas. Your bases are impressive as are the models Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300256-44th-elysian-drop-troops-wip/page/2/#findComment-4214220 Share on other sites

Orsah
So i have come up with a 1000pts army list using IA Taros campaing 2nd ed. please help me with good advice on how to improve it. where i play we play 1000pts on 48x48 tables so i think that 2 valkyries will be enough but perhaps i should deepstrike the command squad and take a vulture instead? anyway, here goes: Elysian CCS - 245pts plasma pistol 3x plasma gun Valkyrie multiple rocket pods Elysian Veteran squad - 270 plasma pistol 3x melta gun heavy flamer Valkyrie Multiple rocket pods Elysian Drop infantry platoon Elysian PCS - 58 aux. grenade launcher 3x flamer Drop infantry squad - 68 aux. grenade launcher Grenade launcher Drop infantry squad - 68 aux. grenade launcher Grenade launcher Drop sentinel Squadron - 140 2x sentinels 2x mutli melta Tauros Venator - 75 TL lascannon Tauros venator - 75 TL lascannon Total 999pts have done some more painting so pictures will be coming soon! WarriorFish
I'm not too knowledgable on Elysian stuff but it looks like you have good numbers and fire power for 1000pts. Plasma pistols are expensive, but I'm guessing it's hard to find better use for the points? Looking forward to seeing more pictures :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300256-44th-elysian-drop-troops-wip/page/2/#findComment-4226648 Share on other sites
Ulrik_Ironfist
Are the Drop sentinels part of the infantry platoon? Also you might want to think about taking a Vendetta for some anti armor punch, and since under those rules it's still got a 10 man capacity you can still use it as a transport. The vulture would be an excellent addition, I'm really wanting to add one or two to my collection. I mean if 1k is the limit, you'd have to figure out what you want to take and when. Looks like you have a pretty solid list so far. I look forward to what you do. Orsah
Did some more painting. finished 15 bases so far and this weekend i hope to finish some more troopers. Im getting a little confused though on what theme the army will have. both the standard Elysian drop troops and the D99 special forces are really cool themes and i cant make up my mind..... http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/ae144/johha004/15_12_03_infantry_zpsadctmjgs.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300256-44th-elysian-drop-troops-wip/page/2/#findComment-4242710 Share on other sites
Ulrik_Ironfist
D99, has some glaring issues. The elites squads are very specialized and get expensive very quickly, as well as having limited options in terms of fliers. They can ake a great ally if facing tyranids, or high toughness armies, but they really suffer the high cost problem more than elysians. Also, on;y 1 SW per vet squad, and no option for hot shots anywhere, that kinda hurts them. Orsah
Have had som downtime from painting for a couple of months. Did start on a sentinel this week. I have just finished the paint chipping, perhaps i got a bit carried away and over did it... Next step is washing and adding streaks! lionofjudah
lol heavy on the chipping but I'm sure you can tone that back down with the streaking and weathering. Love your work- could you share the recipe for your yellow lenses please? Tallarn Commander
I love the chipping effect! Do you mind if I ask how you achieved it? The chips look too bold/strong to have been rubbed on with sponges or pencils. But the chips also look too random/awesome to look like they were directly applied with a brush. Orsah
Thanks for the feedback! I noticed i had got some questions about color recipies which i havent answered yet. the lenses: Mournfang brown as a base, then glazes of the following colors; brown/black wash - blazing orange - mix of blazing orange and yellow - pure yellow - mix of yellow and white. and to finish: edge highlights with pure white. bases are built from cork, sand and plasticard I beams and pipes. colors for the concrete is, dawnstone, nuln oil, rakarth flesh and sesskull white. colors for the sand and gravel is: rhinox hide, baneblade brown and rakarth flesh. metals is: boltgun metal and runefang steel, then washes of nuln oil, devlan mud and seraphim sepia. the chipping: is done with AK interactive heavy chipping fluid, i really like it and will let you achieve a good result in a realtively short time. Orsah
And an update on the Sentinel! almost finished, i still have to paint the Heads up display, the headlights and add some weathering powders. but i think its looking good so far. some pictures: http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/ae144/johha004/sentinel_1_1_zpsfek4mecr.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/ae144/johha004/sentinel_1_5_zpsw3cb1dfv.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/ae144/johha004/Sentinel_1_3_zpswruamqwy.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/ae144/johha004/sentinel_1_6_zpsewyiiqud.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300256-44th-elysian-drop-troops-wip/page/2/#findComment-4335662 Share on other sites
