Charlo
Hey Guys, Astorath is a really sweet sculpt in my opinion except for one thing.... That damned silly vampire head! Is it easy enough to remove? Has anyone attempted and have any tips for doing so? Just can't stand non-helmeted Marines myself. You only don't get to wear protection if you are the Chapter Master or a Primarch Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300286-editing-the-astorath-model/ Share on other sites
girot
IIRC his head, body, and legs are all one piece. His arms, back, and wings are separate pieces. Honestly I think your best bet is to glue on a helmet face piece and then sculpt more hair on to blend in the change. Otherwise you'd have to grind off his head and resculpt everything around/under it before adding a helmet. Plan B would be to kit bash your own. Blissful Brushes
He's one piece of fine cast, but because it's such a crap resin it'll be easy to remove. As Girot says there'd be some work involved tidying him up though. The only issue you'll have is that he's actually very small and slight. A full sized marine helm would look daft on him I reckon Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300286-editing-the-astorath-model/#findComment-3886843 Share on other sites
Charlo
Hmmm... Might just have to take his arms and jump pack to convert my own! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300286-editing-the-astorath-model/#findComment-3886846 Share on other sites
SnorriSnorrison
Astorath is wearing a mask, like chaplains do. He's just not protecting the rest of his head, unless there's a silly amount of fake hair glued to that helmet. Who knows! Blindhamster
the arms and shoulderpads are part of the body, the forearms might be separate, but i dont think so (been a while since i hacked mine up for mephiston parts) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300286-editing-the-astorath-model/#findComment-3886901 Share on other sites
IronKobra
BlindHamster is right. Having recently finished mine the arms end at the wrist. So head, shoulders and forearms are all one piece. And all the way down to his toes I should add! girot
Am I the only one with a metal Astorath? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300286-editing-the-astorath-model/#findComment-3887013 Share on other sites
JamesI
I have metal Astorath. Finecast would have made the work I did on him easier too (swapped out the axe for a sword since I thought it looked better back in 5th edition) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300286-editing-the-astorath-model/#findComment-3887014 Share on other sites
IronKobra
Am I the only one with a metal Astorath? :P Nope mine is metal too. Only model I ended up with in fine cast was Sanguinor. But I can't complain with it as all things said and done I must have gotten a 'good one' with no warp and a small bubble that was easily fixed. Noctem Cultor
Several options here, first green stuff a box grill over his mouth to make him look a little more covered. As High Chaplain or what ever he should have a skull helm. If his head is a bit smaller and a normal helm looks wrong just use a skeleton skull as a base as they are smaller and then sculpt/ stick on a vent and wires to make it a helmet. The final option is just to dive right in remove the head and hair and then stick on a helmet and use platicard for a collar (this tidies up most bits). If you want to keep in the look of his armour tidying up with GS wont be hard. Hope this helps.
