Phalanx Warder
Hello gang! so I recently played a 3000pt game against an Ultra Marine player who ran the RoW Armored spearhead. I was running a really weak list (buying upgrades I didnt need to fill out the 3000pts) and I got murderlated. Based on all that AV14 I came up with the following list: HQAlexis Polox 165 Master of Signal 95 EliteRapier Battery (X3) 175(X2 las destroyer X1 thudd) Contemptor talon (X2) 385(Multi Melta/Heavy Bolters) (Kheres/Plasma Blaster) TroopsLegion Breacher (15) 350(AA/Vex/X2melta/lascutter/vox) Legion Breacher (15) 350(AA/Vex/X2melta/lascutter/vox) Legion Tactical Squad (15) 230 (AA/Vex/Vox) Heavy SupportSicaran 205Las Cannon/Aux Drive/Armored Ceramite Heavy Support Squad (10) 395Auto Cannons/AA Lord of WarLegion Glaive 650Armored Ceramite That's 3000 on the nose Everything supports the Breachers and tactical squad charge up the middle. Not sure how to read the IF Row on this, am I allowed to take as one choice say talon of Contemptors? or does a single Contemptor makes up the one choice? I think it is the latter not the former. Thoughts on that and the list in general? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300386-imperial-fist-3000pts/ Share on other sites
Slips
If its AV14 in the Form of Spartans you're up against (or Achilles for that matter) Graviton Rapiers will serve you better because of Haywire. But they will cost you more. For the RoW I think its 1 slot composed of X units. So you can have 3 Contemptors in a Talon take up one slot. Also, a Sicarian Venator would be better than the Auto Cannon Squad at tank busting; also great against shooty super heavies. If you take it instead of the AC Squad, you gain like ~150 points to beef up any squads. Alternatively, for the same points as the HS squad, you could take a Geared up Spartan or an Achilles with Multi-Meltas / Achilles Alpha with Culverins. The latter two also brings in another Thudd Gun to make use of the Nuncio-Voxii. Since you only have 2 elites and no fast attack, you could take an Apothecarion Detachement and still be safe in regards to the RoW. At base 45 each, you could get 3 apothecaries. Though this may be a mutually exclusive choice with taking Graviton Rapiers if you decide to swap out the HS squad for a Venator. You could maybe fit in 2 Gravitons and 2 Apothecaries. maybe. For the troops themselves, I remain unconvinced about the Lascutters utility/usefulness. Brofist
Don't be scared to break up your rapier battery into more than 1 unit. Right now you have 2 open elite slots. If you wanted you could have each gun in its own slot. If you're going up against a wall of AV15 your best tools are haywire, speed bumps, lots of lascannons, or melee. Look at lightnings with kraken missiles, cheap dreadnoughts for melee attacks, or a heavy support squad with lascannons + tank hunters. Medusas could also work. 1ncarnadine
Consider swapping the meltaguns on the breachers for grav guns. Same points, longer range, haywire, and you don't have to worry about an opponent having armoured ceramite all over everything. Also gonna second the opinion on the lascutters. Unless you're playing zone mortalis or something, melta bombs/power fists might work out better. Or get more grav guns. For the troops themselves, I remain unconvinced about the Lascutters utility/usefulness. I am with you 100% on the Apothecaries, I have seen them turn slaughter into light losses! I was tempted to add a Venator to my latest FW order but went with the Rapiers instead. In my current meta they have a loathing for my Sicaran and if I don't hide it they will throw the kitchen sink at it! I can only assume that they will give the Venator the same treatment and I have found that the Sicaran is quite squishey Don't be scared to break up your rapier battery into more than 1 unit. Bulbafist, I am usually elite slot heavy/maxed out and this is an attempt to change things up a little, i have never considered a Lightning as a viable choice i will have to get my nose in the book and take a look at it! LYD, I have never considered the Grav gun as a viable weapon though that assumption wasn't based in knowledge mind, again i will have to take a closer look at the rules. Thanks for the comments and recommendations guys the list is based off of the units I currently have or the ones in the mail! I will be taking in your recommendations and looking at what I want to buy at a later date! Not listed but on hand are: X2 predators (plasma cannon/conversion beamer/auto cannon options) 30+ Tactical Marines 10 Cata Terminators (Power Axes combi bolters) 10 indominus Terminators (various armament and shields) 2 extra Contemptors (various weapons) Command Squad Sigismund(i use the sword carrier MKIII guy from the MKIII CS kit) 5 destroyers with JP 5 recon marines 10 assault marines Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300386-imperial-fist-3000pts/#findComment-3889441 Share on other sites
Emperors Teeth
Shouldn't your Autocannon heavy support squad cost 295, not 395 points? 135pts base, 100 for 5 more guys. 50 for 10 autocannons and 10 for the Artificer Armour.
