I got my behind whooped a ton, but i finally made it to 600+ points.

The last two games, I think I felt the pity from my opponent (and brother in law)

I played a match, brought 2 term squads w/ 1 psycannon total, a standard libby, and an NDK with a psycannon vs. a demon army that had a ~150 point advantage.

the match ended incredibly epic.  Round 6, i'm second in the round, and behind by 2 points.  My NDK gets the warlord kill, and manages to get the 3-captures on the card getting me 3 total points for a win by 1.

The second match, i could finally go unbound (at 650pt and later, unbound is OK)

This match I used 3 NDK, teleporters, psycannons, and incinerators w/ swords vs. dark angels. Still about 150points behind.  He had everyone on bikes or otherwise.  My warlord grabbed FNP on the personal table, and the 3 NDKs proceeded to do insane casualties.  my warlord ended up taking a total of 3 wounds, and the other two took no wounds. (he had some meltas but I managed to drop them immediately)..

7 week score results: 4L, 3W.  Getting there, guys.

Kudos to you for taking your lumps and sticking with it!

It sounds like an -- ahem -- interesting? tournament rule set. I applaud them for trying to spice things up a bit, though it seems like a tough format for our brothers in grey. I haven't played enough low-point games to know how the other armies fare at low points, but I know we GK suck at it.

Good work ER, I was curious how that crazy league was going. Glad to see the purge is going well ;)

Unbound is pretty absurd, pretty much what I expected (DK's curbstomp most things flat without too much effort).

Keep us updated on your progress .

Thanks for the motivation! Some of the other players already have 1200+ points. Here I am with my <800.

It's been fun so far, and i'm gaining traction.

Is there a mechanism in the tourney that lets you catch up? Like, say, receiving more points for beating a higher-point opponent? Or are you forever behind those who won more games?

The only way to get extra boosts is to buy models..  The whole point of the league was to get people in the door (because they did a change of ownership and lost all of their regulars)

I go because my brother in law works the shop on weekends.. I only buy when I want things, not to keep up (eg the two jokaero i just bought)

Wow. Literally pay2win. I still can't believe you're involved in something like this man. It sounds incredibly one-sided.

Oh it totally is.  I'm just playing against the players who don't pay to win.  I proposed ways he could run the league to maintain balance and get members in- but he wasn't really accepting of the information.  No big deal.

On the up side, I am regularly a few hundred points down and have been winning as of recent.  Esp. with running multiple dreadknights. (going to add my SR as soon as I can)

You should man. I can understand doing an event like this to generate interest and sales in a new store opening. But if he keeps doing it, its a pretty cynical and manipulative ploy to just sell kits, rather than encourage hobby (which sells kits as well, but is about a community of gamers, rather than a bunch of consumers).

Yep. I'm not really at the store for him, i'm there for my brother in law.  If I end up buying models, I buy from him when he works the shop rather than the main store manager.

Are you behind on points because of model availability, or because of some rule condition? If it's the rules, could you link to them or something? It sounds interesting.

EDIT NM I read about it above, thanks!
