Everon
Greetings brothers, I was curious for any ideas in a local league we are having On how to counter a specific opponent I have in a week or so. My foe is playing codex imperial knights in a 1500 point game. It unfortunately is a planet strike game with set fortifications and I know he is bringing 2 errants, a paladin, a castigator and an aegis with a quad gun. I dont know much about how planet strike works so thats already a decent disadvantage. I was thinking stormravens but that might be good for one or two rounds unless I hover mode them, if they havent been gunned down yet.I thought interceptors with pyscannons but not enough shots and I have horrible luck with rending. DKs are viable but all he needs is one cc hit and its game. So mass termies Is best I can think of. Any advice? IndigoJack
I recently tabled an adamantium lance list at 1500, so it's definitely doable. NDKs are good, especially when you consider they only hit you on a 4+ and only have 3 attacks (with the exception of the castigator). Also, psycannons on side arcs are good as they strip hull points on a 5+. Terminators with hammers also work fairly well. If your opponent is running the lance formation, remember that he needs all 3 to get the bonuses, so once one of them go down, the formation stops working. Honestly though, the best way to beat this list isn't to try and go toe-to-toe with it, but to out score it. The list only has 4 scoring models, so this is more than doable. I'd probably just spam strikes in rhinos with a psycannon and melta bomb, then toss in a couple NDKs with heavy psycannons and hammers (knights really hate concussive weapons). I'm not even sure I'd worry about teleporters, just deep strike them in and see what happens. If you have the points, throw in a storm raven. BTW, who's manning the quad gun? Can a super heavy walker man a quad gun? If so, can he still fire his other weapons? As far as planet strike goes, all I know about it is there are some crazy rules for attackers (like assaults after deep strike) so if you're attacking, you could do some serious damage. Reclusiarch Darius
You could run this at 1500; HQ: (2) Librarian w/stave (110 points each) Terminator Inquisitor w/hammer+psycannon, 3x servo-skulls, Mastery 1 (119 points) Troops: (2) Justicar w/hammer, 4x Terminators w/hammers (215 points each) Heavy Support: (4) Dreadknight w/hammer, teleporter (165 points each) Fortifications: Aegis Line w/Comms Array (70 points) Total: 1499 points Before you ask, you use double Nemesis Strikeforce. Planestrike lets you charge after Deepstrike. So, just put those servo-skulls in good spots, then Deepstrike the Terminators in. Shunt the Dreadknights in support, force bad shooting decisions from him. Each DK will murder a Knight in melee combat fairly easily, and with 'Sanctuary' up you might not even die to their reaper. Everon
Appreciate the feed back. Seems worth a try for both strategies. @ indigo, I honestly habe no idea. Im assuming by placing fortifications you own it, so he may let it just be auto emplacement since it is twin linked. Grand Master Caloth
Planet strike lets nearly every model type deepstrike, and if they already have deepstrike as a rule, they can also assault. Plus planetary bombardment, which can hurt if they hit Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300505-local-league/#findComment-3894831 Share on other sites
