I'd love to use Polux the problem is that he's GW ip so he can be killed off or dropped at any time.  Plus I'm just not good enough of a painter to do him full justice.  I think for now I will create my own Praetor and maybe bring Polux in at a later date.

I'm also going to do a centurion for each legion that I use.  Reading through HH4, I definately going to have some Black Shields in my force not sure whether to do a full squad or sprinkle some into different squads, what do people think?

What is the best way to run troops in HH, 10 man squads so I can give them Rhinos or 20 man squads (I get the feeling the emperor favours the big battalions)?

Depends. Since a 20 man Tac blob (before upgrades) will run you 250 points and Two 10man Squads will run you 300 (also before upgrades).

On the one hand, with an attached apothecary, the 20 man blob will technically be more durable and have more firepower but, on the other hand, the Rhino squad whilst less points efficient has more mobility for late game objective capping.

I personally favor maxing out squads (or near enough) mostly due to the lower points per marine we have when compared to standard 40k. This, however, can change on a squad per squad basis since some do not get more points efficient the more Marines you add on to them; such as assault squads which cost WAAAAY too much for what they bring. We're talking 250 for the base 10.

Thanks for your advice Slipstreams, I'm going to go with 20 man tactical squads, I'm just waiting for FW to forward my Iron Hands Strike Force and I'm prepping a test mini for my paint scheme, I'll try and get a WIP up for him this week.

I didn't realise that Polux was the Chapter Master of the Crimson Fists.  I have to include him at somepoint (I think he will end up being pro painted alongside Gideon Lorr figures that good shouldn't be allowed anywhere near my below mediocre painting skills).

Thanks Raktra, I'm going to give him a whirl.  Having just checked out your Iron Hands I have to admit to being a bit daunted as they are awesome.  Never the less my test mini is assembled and painting has begun.

Undercoated with the fang and base coated with undercoat black I've used iron breaker on the combat shield/bolt pistol which I'm really pleased withand the power fist/claw which I'm less happy with (I did have it almost right and then tried to corrrect it, should have left it.  Totally regretting the cloak but it was my only spare torso back at the time after deciding I liked the first test mini so much he needed a little more than test mini status (damn my impulsive nature) should have cut it off but it does give me a large area to tinker on.  I'll trying some highlighting over the weekend and work out colour to link the broken legions together my original choice was going to be red but a bit less sure of that now having seen how well others have done it.

Yes I know the test mini isn't 30K, I'm not touching my FW stuff till I've got a paint scheme ready.

Decided to turn my IF Centurion in to a Moritat the powerfist wasn't doing it for me.  So the destroyers are going to be IF as well.

Gathered all the bits for my 3rd Centurion not sure whether to make him a Warhound, a  Duskraider or a Blackshield.  Thinking about using Khârn as the base for my Warhound and Typhon as the base for my Duskraider, problem is £31 quid per model is a lot to spend when you only want the torso and legs.
