Combat_Vet
Greets, First let me say I am a straight out of the box painter/minor converter and I'm relatively new to FW products. That being said, I'm having a terrible time getting epoxy to stick to the models. I've tried brown stuff, green stuff, as well as procreate. Is there something special I'm missing about resin in relation to plastic or metal? A different product? Any advice would be great. Hyuzanriu
I used epoxy to get my Sicaran to stay together since the resin was too heavy for super glue. Had to hold it in place for about 20-25 minutes for it to actually stick. Grotsmasha
Even more so than GWs stuff, FWs models need to be washed in soapy water as they are much more likely to have mould release residue, which will hamper anything sticking to them. MedPig
You REALLY need to soak the parts in Simple Green, or Dettol for you guys in Britain, and use an old toothbrush to scrub them down. Mold release does just that, and glues and paints won't stick to it, either. Forge World will be a whole new experience for you. Minimal directions, if you're good enough to chance building them, they figure you'll work out what goes where. Be prepared to do a LOT of surface prep, sanding mold lines, sometimes having to reactive panels, etc. they're well worth the money, but you'll hate every model right up until it's done. Be sure to clear-coat them, too. Protects the paint job. They are crowd pleasers. Many guys in FLGS have never seen them, so be prepared to answer questions when you pull one out of the carrier. I would also like to add that if the model in question is a Relic Sicaran or a Fire Raptor that after those questions you should expect a little bit of hate because those two units are as close to OP as OP gets. Kaedes Nex
If you're using a two-part epoxy like green stuff, adding more of one color makes it stickier. I forgot which one though. GrandMasterAralia
I used regular gw greenstuff for fixing my elysians, and even though the greenstuff is quite old, it worked perfectly fine. But I did leavy the parts in soapy water and scrubbed them good with an old toothbrush. Good luck :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300825-forge-world-products-and-hobby-epoxy/#findComment-3900266 Share on other sites
