Some things I've Learned: Share your experiences!

There are tons of things I've learned since starting 40k (when the new GK codex launched)

  • Mass low/mid AP fire is way worse than small amounts of low AP fire.
  • NDK are really strong, but keep them away from the low AP.. They die WAY too easily.
  • Deep-striking is awesome, but don't base your entire strategy around it being successful.
  • GK is all about in-your-face. Move your models, don't sit in the back and shoot.
  • Don't write off the psylencer. It's amazing vs. a ton of things (like MCs or multi-wound creatures).
  • You don't have to start the game with any models on the field.  You just can't END your turn with an empty board.
  • Aegis lines and Communication relays are awesome.  This is in the main rulebook (for those who are just starting out).
  • Just because you're GK doesn't mean you should always roll on the Sanctic table. Plan according to the army you're fielding and what you're facing.
  • Sanctuary and an apothecary with Draigo is just epic. (Librarian, paladins, and Draigo.. huge point sink but good god is Invuln 2++ w/ FNP5++ hard to kill)

I'd love to hear some things you guys learned this year that everyone could benefit from.

Fixed that for you. If you go last the opponent is very unlikely to destroy all the units that come in turn one with interceptor fire alone. Even if he destroys everything in his 2nd turn you still have the opportunity to put something on the board on your second turn.

Purifiers aren't half as good as people think. At least not if you're taking a Nemesis Strike Force.

As an aside, where are the Fortifications costs in the rulebook these days? I've looked a ton of times but can't seem to find them. Am I missing something?

In a pure Knight list, I agree. But once you bring Allied Drop Pods, Purifiers go from 'cool unit that can only be delivered by Raven' to 'cool unit that Turn 1 sets the enemy gunline on fire'.

You have to acquire the Stronghold Assault expansion book. It has all the 40k legal fortifications in there.
