Pretty sure it's not legit, but I'll ask anyway!

Does the Liber Demonica count as a dice roll from the standard selection of powers?

Hard to explain, so I'll extrapolate.

I take a librarian PML3 w/ Liber Demonica:

Roll 3 times on Sanctic.  Could I then use the Demonica to gain an extra power from Divination, for instance- and still get the primaris from the Sanctic tree?

Not sure if It counts as standard manifestation of psyker powers, or if it's own special rule for it.

The liber requires you to take that last power from sanctic.  as soon as you generate a power from someplace else, you lose the primaris.

The liber makes you take it from the same tree?  Or is that only to gain the Primaris?

Dunno why you'd ever want 'Banishment'. It's literally useless against everything bar Daemons.

Generally speaking, if you're taking the Liber, just roll everything on Sanctic. The only reason you'd be doing that is to fish for 'Gate' and 'Sanctuary', as none of the other powers you need (as they come standard on our infantry).

Nah, as the Libby is with the terminators and the terminators are NSF and NSF DS turn one into the thick of it and as the thick of it will have lots of enemy units, I also gladly take an extra cleansing flame on the libby.  And vortex, hey why not.

If only bansishment would be better..

Take Purifiers in an Allied drop pod instead.

If banishment was -1 invuln to EVERYONE, it would be awesome!

But then we'd actually hard-counter the stupid xenos units ruining the game right now. And that wouldn't be in keeping with GW's marketing strategy (ie sell monster and vehicle kits to every faction, especially xenos). Imagine if we could reduce 'Forewarning' on SeerStar, or Riptide free storm shield...

Well, strictly speaking not everything, as some armies don't have invul saves at all, or aren't concerned with them (Tyranids for example). I miss the days when our old psycannons just ignored invul saves flat out. It was rarely a powerful ability, but it sometimes was relevant (back when Bikes going turbo mode turned their armour save into an invul).

I like having psycannons being the workhorse weapon option. I guess I'd take psilencers forcing re-rolls to invul or something of that nature. It would at least elevate them beyond 'useless except on Dreadknights, and only with 'Force' turned on as well'.

I think the intention was...

take all powers from divination, gain the primaris, then apply the rule from liber daemonica and get an extra power from sanctic.

Which isn't legal. Once you generate even a single power (via any means) from a different lore, you lose the free Primaris. GW are very clear about that in the Psychic phase section of the rulebook.

As I mentioned earlier, the Liber is for people fishing for 'Gate' and 'Sanctuary' on a Librarian. If you wanna take mixed powers or mainly Divination, don't bother with it.
