Chefzilla
Are these worth it? If so how's the best way to use them. Last night I had a game against the Tau and brought in my Vendetta on turn 3 with 6 scions. The twin linked lascannons tore up his riptide and crisis suits but then it was blown out of the sky at the beginning of the next turn. So here's a couple of questions. I know the scions have deep strike so if they're in a transport like the Vendetta does that get deep strike? Second, what's the best way to use this vehicle. I was thinking more as a gunship but if this not correct let me know. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300963-valkyrievendetta/ Share on other sites
CoffeeGrunt
The Vendetta does great as Anti-Air and Anti-Tank, with a side of Transport ability. However against Tau you're facing easily-accessible anti-air and no Fliers. Against other opponents they're more potent, and if you're running a Company Command Squad it's worth considering an Officer of the Fleet to boost your Reserve Rolls to get it in earlier. It's an ideal weapon against Battlesuits as well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/300963-valkyrievendetta/#findComment-3899716 Share on other sites

Fibonacci
. I know the scions have deep strike so if they're in a transport like the Vendetta does that get deep strike? Good idea, but no. Every model must have the deepstrike rule. It's the first line in te deepstrike rule if you want to see how the whole thing is worded. WarriorFish
Yes, Tau can muster anti-air tricks far easier than anyone else so they're not the best opponent. Otherwise they are worth it depending on what you need. I like to break it down as the Valkyrie being the transport that can be upgraded (missile pods) to be competent at handling infantry whereas the Vendetta is a gunship that happens to have room for 6 people :P Scions have a good deep strike ability, so arguably they don't really need a transport. A Vendetta will let you hunt enemy flyers well and pop tanks reliably, the ability to drop a small squad off to cause some mischief or sneak in to capture something is a very nice bonus. Also a good use for a PCS left hanging. Last but far from least its a cool model! As such you can't go far wrong with a Vendetta - versatility like that doesn't come cheap though but it is usually worth the expense. scatmandoo
As the Fish has said. Vendetta is primarily a heavy hitter that is best used carrying a CCS/PCS/SWS as a back up to it's firepower. The Valkyrie is best seen as a really fast Chimera that has a primary use of dropping whatever unit you place in it to where you want. The anti-infantry function should be seen as secondary.
