bsucbe
Hello all, I keep going through these forums and the forgeworld site dreaming of getting going with a heresy force. Just wanted to know peoples oppinion of the shopping list so far. The gamer bundle of books MK III command MK III tactical bundle MK III Breachers x2 MK III Despoiler squad x2 Destroyer squad MK III power weapon set Death guard transfer sheet It's a pretty hefty price tag so was thinking save up for a few months then get a little bit of it, take my time and try to get my painting to where the models deserve it to be. Also any recommendations for reading about the death guard (apart from flight of Eisenstein) would be greatly appreciated! Atia
Also any recommendations for reading about the death guard (apart from flight of Eisenstein) would be greatly appreciated! Scars, Vengeful Spirit and the short stories The Lion and distant echoes of old night. HH book I, II and IV from FW. Your list sounds solid, but i'm more a fan of Terminators and Dreadnought orianted forces though :P Good luck with your DG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301028-death-guard-plans/#findComment-3901185 Share on other sites
bsucbe
Thank you for the pointers with reading might have to invest in the black library books, the forgeworld books maybe at a much later time. As for the list, thanks, I like the look of the terminators and again maybe add some down the line but want to see my force as trench clearers, breachers as the anvil to the despoilers hammer. Tacticals wiping out anything trying to climb out and the destroyers making bunkers a no go zone. They would be pre heresy, might get round to making the fluff for them as I go, when spending months between each purchase I'm sure I could do what I have seen others do on here, naming each brother and giving him backstory. Marshal Loss
I'd add some Deathshroud to that list, great models with great rules Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301028-death-guard-plans/#findComment-3901855 Share on other sites
bsucbe
Maybe eventually, they do look awesome! This will take me a long time to do as it is! Not introduced idea to the Mrs yet either. But no one can hate MK III, surely? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301028-death-guard-plans/#findComment-3901948 Share on other sites
Daemon2027
I would certi ally look to get Forge World Heresy Book I. Has a lot of info on the Death Guard, and the basic list. bsucbe
So the extra 25 pounds to get betrayal would get lots of fluff? Hmmm tempting, would delay the other purchases but would make background writing easier! bsucbe
Oh well that sounds like just what I wanted. Will start saving. Does it have the rules for all the units currently available to them as well? Knight of the Raven
Does it have the rules for all the units currently available to them as well? Lacks Grave Wardens as their second specific unit in Massacre, as well as general newbies like (I believe) Sicaran battle tanks and Scorpius Whirlwinds. But no one can hate MK III, surely? As a painter of mk.IV, they look like a nightmare to highlight. I like the shoulder pads though, even if I'm not impressed by the standard helmets. If only Forge World made Sarum-pattern helmets! bsucbe
Tanks don't fit with my theme luckily so that might do me with only one book needed, happy days. They do look good! To be fair painting is a skill I need to hone, highlights on my dark angels is going over with caliban green after the nuln oil bath. But the plan is to take time on these Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301028-death-guard-plans/#findComment-3902825 Share on other sites

jumping goat
Making a warhammer shopping list is almost one of the funnest parts of the hobby! I love the Forge World Death Guard range. I see that you're going for a basic power armour theme (very fluffy), but I nearly started a Death Guard force due to the awsome terminators. As a start it looks like a good shopping list but it would be a shame not to include at least one of the Death Guard terminator squads. I also think Mortarion and Typhus are a must at later stages of your army building, these fellas are in my list of favorite FW models. I would convert Mortarions manreaper to be more like the one held by Typhus, I believe a traditional scythe (with the handles) would be very impractical as you could only attack from one side. Leonite
Honestly, I may not be making Death Guard myself... but I love the range. I'm totally planning on getting a Deathshroud Terminator and converting them into Nurgle Characters for my Chaos Army, and honestly it has been a consideration with my World Eaters to stick with them, or the Sons of Mortarion. I mean, it's not likely that I'll switch, if it isn't the Deathguard, the Red Butchers of the World Eaters are my next favourites, but still. bsucbe
Maybe get terminators down the line and they would make a pretty awesome nurgle lord for my fantasy nurglings. I know my power army is fluffy but I have it in my head now, so have decided first purchase will be the book, can then work on fluffy goodness. Then as to what I would get after that not a clue, finish that list then maybe death shroud.
